Group created by fin

This group is for those people who are praying or would like to start praying for their spouse. If you feel that God is calling you to the vocation of marriage, praying for your future spouse is one of the ways to prepare for it. Hi Chloe and LoveJesus!

Welcome to the group! Thank you for joining and for posting here in the forums.

In relation to the topic, yes I also write letters to my future husband. I started by writing them on pad papers, then later on I switched to a nice looking journal. At first I didn't know what to write really. Now, I write about my days, my experiences. That way when we meet and know each other, my future husband can know about some things which I may forgotten about and haven't told him.

I also pray for my future husband and remember him especially at daily Mass. I pray that he is okay wherever he's at right now.

I have the book by Jason and Crystalina, How to Find Your Soulmate Without Losing Your Soul. It's a good book, and recommended for teens.

been alone all of my life, never been with a man ever and am so tired of being alone, took care of my mom for a good many years and loved her a lot, i dont regret a minute of being with her or giving her all of my time and energy and love and compassion. she past on june 07.

any how i am in a good place in my life to meet some one now and want to meet a great guy with a lot to offer, i think i have waited long enough for at least that much ?

i am now almost 40 and still have waited for the right man all of these years. i met a nice guy recently but i think he has to many severe problems and doesnt have much to offer me at all. i want some one who can offer me a good life and a happy one also.

To be a Catholic woman is most important to me, as well as somewhere around my age (I am currently 29)---the latter is somewhat negotiable.

God knows how i've come across your question. But i honestly think your plan to pray (so much) for your future husband is the most beautiful jesture i've heard in a long time!! My heart's genuinely moved.

Please be patient with our Lord. I'm a 21 year old guy and was feeling pretty down that God hadnt produced a wee lady for me to fall madly in love with and marry. Instead of praying madly for blessings on my future wife, i was saying "Please God, make us meet today!".

I dont know why, but God eventually made me realise that she wasnt the problem.....i was!! When i looked at myself i suddenly saw the true picture that i was no longer the 'upright man' i thought i was.

When i was 17-18, i had dated a girl that had been my childhood sweetheart. One day she randomly left me for another guy - without explaining why. Trying to be "a man" about things i went on as usual. I focused on a music tour i was going on to america and life went on as usual.

In a few months my music tour came, i went, and came back home. Suddenly i had no distractions and COMPLETELY unravelled. I became very depressed for months. I remember going onto facebook and seeing that my ex was going on holiday with her boyfriend. She had packed boxes of durex into her case and tagged him on them. My heart just broke. My wee sweetheart was getting into impure things and loosing God. After months of depression i tried to commit suicide several times....and survived (thank God).

Seeing that i couldnt suffer much more, God sent a wee angel in the form of an old friend. She got me back on my feet (God bless her and her husband). I then went to uni and took a fresh start. At uni, God opened my eyes and i stopped praying for the sake of it and prayed because God clearly loved me and had set me free from my heartbreak (THANK GOD!!)

Fast forward 3 years and i feel like me again!! My results have gone up through the roof and the only thing i was lacking was a girl to love again.

As i said earlier, i've asked God for a wife many times. But he was pointed back at the final thing i need to brush up on. Quite embarrassingly i'd picked up the habit of masturbation whenever i went through my rough time. I used to think that that problem would sort itself out when i got married. But God rightly has said "no, no! If i am to give you the quality of woman you have asked for, i need you to be a quality man for her, and be in 100% control of yourself".

So i'm convinced my wee lady isnt far away. But i have one last mountain to climb before we can fall into each others arms. She's probably desparing that i'm taking so long....and it's 100% my fault.

Therefore, while i am struggling on. The thought of my wee woman praying for me like mad is SO powerful and moving. My heart rejoices at such acts.

So i beg you to continue your prayers for you future spouse. If he's like me, he's been through a lot - but your prayers make all the difference!!

May you find your love soon!

    God bless!

That is what we are doing. It is more difficult for him at times, because he was previously married (the marriage was annulled) and obviously that is an aspect of marriage. He is trying to understand my fears, and my desire to wait and he does respect all of it but it doesn't make it any easier, I suppose that is why it is called temptation. We are working through it and praying all the time. Thank you for the prayers, they are appreciated.

Marriage requires a vocation and if you are confident that God is calling you to marriage then fear not, because God will bring your husband into your life according to His will.

Actively trying to date people can often lead to desparation and bitterness when you find that you're not able to meet the right man. Instead of actively looking for a spouse, I recommend that you do a few things to put yourself out there (social groups and online dating websites are both good choices in my opinion) but spend the majority of your time figuring out what God wants you to do next in your life. If God has called you to marriage but has not yet brought your spouse into your life, then it stands to reason that there must be some things that God wants you to work on before you enter into marriage (maybe even try praying to see exactly what He wants you to work on).

    God bless!

Thanks for this...especially the part where you have to work on yourself first. I have always believed you have to prepare yourself first, get rid of everything that could negatively affect you.and PRAY!!

    NOVENA PRAYER - September 2011

O Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, to your Holy Hearts do I come to beg for the infinite merits and graces that only God can give.

Jesus, Your Sacred Heart is burning with love for me. I know that you love all of us so much. How often have we hurt You by our sin. How often have I put thorns into Your Holy Heart, by my sin. I am sorry O Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Mary, your Immaculate Heart, loves each one of us as a child. Your heart too is wounded by the sin of the people. What people do by sin to the Heart of Jesus they do to you too. Your holy heart is so sad because people are indifferent to the love and mercy offered by Jesus.

With your Immaculate Heart, O Mary, and with Your Sacred Heart, Lord Jesus, I offer your love with this prayer to our Heavenly Father, and through your Holy Hearts humbly request...

For us to find devout and virtuous spouses. To be prepared when we meet them and be the devout and virtuous husband/wife our future spouses deserve. For our faith to be strengthened.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I shall never be able to thank you enough for loving me so much. I offer my love in return and hope that your Holy Hearts will find some joy in my poor unworthy heart. AMEN.

    1 Our Father
    1 Hail Mary

Oh, Immaculate Mary, Virgin most Powerful, I beseech you, through that immense Power which you have received from the Eternal Father, obtain for me Purity of heart, - Strength to overcome all the enemies of my soul; -and the special favor I implore in my present necessity.
( that we may find and meet our future spouse,

Mother most pure! Forsake me not, despise not my prayer, graciously hear me for God's glory, your honor, and the welfare of my soul.
To obtain this favor I honor your Power by reciting:
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit
    of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.
    Amen.

Oh Virgin Mary, My Mother, through that ineffable Wisdom bestowed upon you by the Incarnate Word of God, I humbly beseech you, obtain for me Meekness and humility of heart; - a perfect knowledge of the divine Will and strength to accomplish it always.
Oh Mary, Seat of Wisdom; as a tender Mother lead me in the path of Christian Virtue and perfection; enlighten and enable me to do what is most pleasing to your beloved Son. and obtain my petition.
To obtain this grace I honor your Wisdom by reciting:
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit
    of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.
    Amen.

Oh, Mother of Mercy, Mother of penitent sinners, I stand before you sinful and sorrowful, beseeching you through the immense Love given to you by the Holy Spirit for us poor sinners, obtain for me true and perfect contrition for my sins, which I hate and detest with all my heart, because I love God.
Mother most Merciful, help me in my present necessity.
Turn, then those eyes of Mercy toward us, Oh Clement, Oh Loving oh Sweet Virgin Mary!
To obtain this precious gift, I honor Your Loving Mercy by reciting:

    Hi Trinichiqn and Anna,

Congrats to us for finishing the Assumption novena! Your intentions for your daily Rosary are wonderful, Trinichiqn.

Anna, including it in your daily prayers sounds like a fantastic idea.

If any of you gals (or guys) have any ideas or would like to suggest praying another novena, please don't hesitate to post here.

    God bless everyone!

@Anna: The Assumption Novena was actually Fin's suggestion. It is a beautiful prayer. My Daily Rosary for the month of August is for the qualities our future spouses should possess e.g strong faith foundation, openness to life, leadership, etc. To the guys - I am a girl so my prayers tend to lean my way, sorry but I do try where possible to stay gender neutral.

    God Bless.
