Lent 2011

Holy Saturday - can we believe it's here! Wow.

Blessings, final best wishes and my love to all who will be received into the Church tonight!

This Lent for me might be summed up in the phrase, "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans for the future!" And it's OK. I haven't done all I planned by a long shot. God did things I didn't expect and they were amazing. And consoling.

I feel like, I may often be tempted to give up on me but as long as He isn't giving up on me, all is well! Spiritual growth never stops as long as one is alive on this Earth.

So, I have no great words of wisdom but I'm glad I thought of this group, it has been wonderful sharing the Lenten journey with everyone!

Hoy! This Lent has been SO busy...and Holy Week does not look to be any different...I'm not sure when I would have had time to watch TV (what I gave up for Lent)
This Sat (Easter Vigil) I will finally be confirmed and my husband will be confirmed and receive first communion.....I can't wait!

interesting Lent-both I and my Priest broke our Lenten vows-well, I am trying to get back on track-mostly I forget and eat meat on Fridays because I forget it's Friday! Lol!

You will love the journey. I too am a convert. The best thing I have ever done in my life. I know God was giving me little hints over the years when I was of a different faith. I just knew something was missing. Then one day I just walked through the doors of the Catholic church and immediately knew I was home and God was smiling.And what a journey it was and still is. The Easter Vigil has such a special place in my heart. It brings me chills as I watch someone go through as I did. Knowing that God's presence is right there.
I will pray for you and that you enjoy every minute of your journey.

Having a difficult time with Lent right now

I know that I do have thee WILL to forgive. I feel that God has directed me to the Doc I have know. What a wonderful man. He emails me once or twice a week. He is trying so hard to put the puzzle pieces together trying to make sense of all that is going on. I am in unfamiliar territory to even the best of the best.
I will never give up HOPE, I am much too strong for that.
I really have messed up Lent this year. Such good intentions
Then I was put on some new meds!
Oh my, I think I have slept through the middle of Lent not to mention my brains feel like they are tangled I have such faith in my new doc, that for now I will allow the chemicals. ( not like me, I will fight chemicals)
Isn't it amazing how distractions can have such an impact !!!!
But the nice thing is God is there for us to catch us when we fall. At the very least he makes us aware that we are reconizing the distraction

Touching base

This has been an odd Lent for me but despite that I feel God is at work with me. I've been pretty scatterbrained because I have been going through this life transition. KimberlyAnn, I have to smile at your "God moment" with your van because I am on the verge of purchasing a used van. And I don't change vehicles often - this is a dream I've had to own a van but also somewhat scary but I think and hope and pray it will be OK.

Zsofia, congratulations on your Confirmation! Good idea to share about the God Box. A friend years ago made me one. I should use it more often!

Since I had some very wonderful plans for Lent but some of them got derailed, I wonder if I'm meant to learn a lesson in humility from that, or if I haven't been disciplined enough. It could be seen both ways. Like, maybe I had great ambitions, but if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans, LOL! I think I'm growing spiritually in some ways that may just take time to become apparent. I sure hope so anyway.

Have gone to Stations a couple of times and probably can go tomorrow as well. And just working on not getting discouraged and persevering for now.

I made some big changes in my Lenten season this year. I decided to convert to Catholicism. I look forward to be doing next year what I see the other catechumens doing this year. Oh yeah I gave up chocolate...which I never realized how much of it I ate a day until I gave it up. But I have learned and grown more in my faith because of it!
