To all that are dealing with scrupulosity. I have had problems with scrupulosity off and on in my life, but due to my wonderful Catholic Faith and the graces of God I almost never have bad thoughts anymore. I have learned that you must completely have faith and trust in God. Whatever you bring to Him, will be answered according to his will. I learned that throught persistent prayer to our Lord, Father, Saints and Mother Mary any thing is possible. When the thougths had interupted my prayer, I knew they were from the devil and told myself that God is infantely more powerful than the devil and that I could continue my prayers no matter what thoughts came about as long as I gave them no power. Again, you have to have complete trust in the Lord. At the worst of my scrupulosity after my atheist dad died, I quiet doing my daily rosary for two weeks. I had read that this was what the devil wanted and to defeat him, I must continue to pray through the thoughts no matter how many and how bad. I continue to do so for several months and within a year of saying the daily rosary, adoration, reading the bible, some daily mass attendence, church, prayer throughout the day to God and all of God heavenly family, I was able to defeat the thoughts. Remember anything is possible with God and I mean anything. You must believe and fight. I can say that my relationship with Jesus and his family is so strong and only getting stronger. I will also say that through my devotion, God and given me so many other graces to deal with everyday struggles and I have many. One more thing I want to say is, when you are dealing with your scrupulosity, give that suffering up to Jesus for a friend, family member or a stranger. God will reward you with so so many graces. Another thing I had to fully believe is that NO SIN IS GREATER THAN GOD"S MERCY. Peace be with you all.

Love you all and will say a rosary for everyone today. May God bless you with all your spirital desires.

Hi nahbios, I want to thank you so so much for posting Father Doyle's article. I read it in preparation for my confession tomorrow, and I am a lot less apprehensive about it now. Thanks for helping me get on the right track.

Hey monserrate 1948! Sorry for the long delay. There is another group on scrupulosity that is more active.

I have had many thoughts that went along the lines of if I don't do this or that then I will lose my soul. The thought was a compulsion to get me to do something. I think it has been mentioned on CAF and I beleive I also read it in a book, that we do not have the power or authority to sell our souls. Just not possible. Also if this occured in a dream we don't generally have control of our dreams.

    God Bless!

I am new to this site. I have been battling scrupolosity since I was in my twenties. I am 63 yrs old and retired. At the time I developed this thoughts which was in the
70"s psychologist and priests were not too informed regarding this disease, It started by me having this dream about the devil. I woke up one night asking my husband if it was true that I gave my soul to the devil. I became very scared about it since I was brought up in a strict catholic family, After going to therapy and medication I became better and started a family. Stop for some time more than 25 yrts. Now I am retired and at home and they started all over again. I become very ansxios and preocupied. with this thoughts. Anybody with the same or similiar problem. God bless!
