[Hi RedRedemption!
To clarify a previous posting...
Like most charismatics, I pray and sing in tongues, but yet to receive the gifts of prophecy in tongues or interpretation of tongues. Neither have I spoken in unknown foreign tongues and being understood by foreigners in their own languages (Acts 2:6-11)
Over the last couple of years, I have heard more than one speaker testifying about speaking in foreign tongues, but never nailed down verifiable details like names, places, dates, taped or written records of the actual instances. However, the the following account seems to be a credible recent instance of the gift of speaking in foreign tongues.

If you are seriously seeking the truth, try asking the blogger Oswald S for more details.
Grace be with you!

Hello Medrano 1202,
I want to thank you for sharing your perspective and responding to my post. I was very tired when I posted my message last night. I must admit I could have worded a few things differently. I do realize that the Catholic Church baptizes in name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. The church recognizes the presence of the Holy Spirit. I was at a Catholic faith sharing meeting this past week. We were discussing the Trinity. Our discussion question from the catechism book was "In my prayer life, how do I relate to each of the three Persons of the Trinity. Most of the individuals in the room admitted they did not relate much to the Holy Spirit. The Catholic Church often refers to the presence of the Holy Spirit......but some of our brothers and sisters just don't get it. I pray for them that they will be filled with the Holy Spirt and feel the strength and empowerment that it will impart in their lives. Not to forget the comfort and peace that it will bring to their lives. Yes, you are correct , I have a strong calling to share this good news with my Catholic brothers and sisters.....I just don't know where to begin. Every time I try....I can see that we are not on the same playing field. And sometimes they just don't seem to understand. Pray for me my brother that God will impart the wisdom that I need just at that moment. Have a blessed day

Hello Spirit_filled! I read what you wrote and I have to disagree with you on one thing...we do profess being baptised in the Holy Spirit here in the South. I am a Charasmatic Latino Catholic and we do it all the time. I guess it all depends on where you are raised. Latinos know how to profess their faith. You are not alone and no you don't have to leave the Church just because you feel alone. I share my faith constantly at work with my protestant brothers and sisters and I read the bible daily. I also teach high school catechism. I'm glad to hear that you have a personal relationship with our Lord and that you feel inner peace and joy. My friend, maybe this is Gods' way of telling you to find those Catholics and start something...don't wait for someone to teach to you maybe that's why you have been given this gift...maybe God brought you into the church to teach about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Think about it. Just some intelligence for your life. P.S. The church never strays from teaching biblical teachings....man does. Just like your friends invite you to worship in thier temples or places of worship do your christian duty and invite them to worship with you. Lets see what response you'll get. Lets see if the Spirit really is at work in them like you make it seem.

Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I hope you can provide some insight on what I am about to say. First a bit about my faith walk. I was raised in the Protestant faith as a child. Then as a young adult I converted to Catholisism. I have been in the Catholic Church now for 32 years. This past Spring I was Baptised in the Holy Spirt. I will not tell you tonight exactly how that came about......perhaps another time. God gave me the gift of speaking in tongues and since then two more spiritual gifts.
I am a "born again" Christian, and a very Charismatic Catholic! I am a new creature in God. I have never felt this close to my Heavenly Father. I thirst for the scripture, pray 24/7 in the spirt, want to share my faith with everyone! I now know what it means to have a "personal relationship with my Lord and Savior. I have never felt such inner peace and joy.
I live in Springfield, IL and I want to know where the other Charismatic Catholics are right now? The Catholic church just does not teach much about the baptism of the Holy Spirt and Spiritual Gifts. In the 30 years I have been in the Catholic Church I have not met one individual that has professed baptism in the Holy Spirit. At times I feel very much alone. Why is it that the Catholic Church does not teach more on these wonderful spiritual gifts? Where are you Charismatic Catholics? I for one would like to know? It seems like the church wants to avoid the biblical teachings on these wonderful spiritual events. I have been invited to worship with other Charismatic Christian Denominations and they don't have any difficulty at all discussing these wonderful events. I don't want to have to leave the Catholic Church.....or to lose the wonderful gifts that God has given me.
I am hoping to find a community of Charismatic Catholics somewhere!!!!

Hi Flame of Christ!
‘Charismatic revival’ is a term sometimes used among Evangelicals and Pentecostals. If you are searching the web for info, you must have come across Azusa Street Revival – commonly regarded as the beginning of the modern-day Pentecostal Movement
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azusa_Street_Revival
Generally speaking, Catholic charismatics don’t use the term ‘charismatic revival’, preferring ‘charismatic renewal’ as their prayer groups are affiliated to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR). Except for a few fringe groups, catholic charismatic prayer groups operate under the authority of local church leadership such as the parish priest or spiritual director or bishop, and conform to the teachings of the Magisterium.
No matter what names charismatics choose for their prayer groups, what’s really important is that their members grow together in love, oneness and holiness; comforted and strengthened by the joy of the Spirit; actively using the gifts of the Spirit to build God’s kingdom; leading Christian lives with renewed hearts in the fullness of the Spirit as powerful witnesses of God.
The prayer group I belong to is open to everyone, welcoming anyone to praise and worship God together with us, to share a stronger faith in God and a deeper love for one another. We sometimes do have people visiting or joining us who are/were Muslim, Jew, Pentecostal, Anglican, Taoist, etc.
It is the Holy Spirit that moves charismatics (regardless of denominational background) to come together to help build a new world with all people of good will through evangelisation, re-evangelisation and through the witness of our lives in the Spirit. This we do so that all may come to experience the fatherly love of Almighty God and the redeeming grace of His Son Jesus Christ.

Claire from DE
Hi, I'm new to this forum but not to the charismatic renewal. I haven't heard of charismatic revival but I feel like that's what the Holy Spirit is doing in my life now.
RedRedemption, the charismatics in my parish are very involved in parish ministries and are seen at daily mass and Eucharistic and Marian devotions. They seem kind and prayerful. People seem to tell them their problems and ask them for prayers. There are no telling outward differences between them and the 'average Catholic in the pews'. They don't stand up in church, burst out in prayer tongues at mass, etc. I don't think other parish members think of them as 'charismatics'. They are just very committed Catholics.
Where I live many prayer groups have died off. In some cases leaders or musicians have moved away and effective leaders haven't taken their places. The prayer group I attended was one of these. Are we somehow blocking the Holy Spirit and this is a sign? At the annual diocesan charismatic conference we used to have many prayer groups represented. We still have high attendance at the conference but people come as individuals or with others who used to be in prayer groups with them.
Any insights or suggestions about this? I want a prayer group in my parish and have spoken to the pastor. He is open to the idea. If a group would approach him, he would work with the parish council to make a space available to us. But I don't think I'm being called to lead such a group. I've spoken to another parish member who feels the same.
On January 9, there will be a full day life in the Spirit seminar in my diocese. Please pray that this will result in many more people on fire with the Spirit.

Hi everybody,
I know that most people here are part of charismatic renewal but has anyone here ever been a part of charismatic revival? I would like to learn more about this. I am searching the web for as much info on this as I can find.
God bless!
