feeling more and more empowered this last week. OF course this brings change. Please pray for me that I will navigate these changes as God wants me to. Loving my neighbour as my self. As I begin to lose the need to please my neighbour I hope I can choose to love my neighbour instead .

I have been trying an affirmation tape by fr justin belitz . I find his words soothing overall it states that I am valuable - as is every body else. Strangely I am feeling less fearful of people even tho I didnt realize I was fearful before . A lady at my sons soccer really opened up to me today - was that beacause i am more open ?

trin40, here is a different way to look at letting someone else do something for us. just as we receive the joy of giving, we should also allow others once in a while to do something nice for us also, this way they to can experience the joy of giving! I had a very hard time with this.

I've been praying "in the moment" for guidance in sticky situations, which helps. Yesterday there was a need for me and my friend to eat and the only compromise that worked at the time was KFC. When we got there, I all of a sudden got a "God nudge" to just eat half of my portion. That was kind of an affirmation - God gave me an out when it was apparent compromise was needed, and I didn't have to feel stuffed and like I was breaking my resolve to eat more healthy.

One thing I am bad at as a people pleasing person is letting others please me ! yesterday my family cooked breakfast for me as it was mothers day and I so wanted to step in and do it (I always cook for my family ) . I had to receive their gift and enjoy this .

    Hello and happy Friday!

daisy14, glad my comments were helpful. This group is helpful to me. I was able to calmly refuse the invitation to a restaurant yesterday and my friend seems to understand even more the more I take a firm, yet pleasant stance.

I feel that this learning to tactfully stand up for my needs in this area is even part of losing my weight, since stressing puts out more cortisol in the body, which in turn makes more belly fat!

It's like that saying, "Put on your own oxygen mask first." In other words, if the plane's going down and you pass out before you can help anyone else, what good does that do? We don't demand unreasonably, we're just in need of the basics for sanity and grace so that we will be better able to serve God and neighbor.

In my case (if you have read past posts) this means taking care of my health and not becoming diabetic just because I let people talk me into going to restaurants where the temptation to overeat and eat the less healthy foods is just too hard to resist until I feel stronger.

Hi group! Today is national prayer day... so my calendar polietly told me. Praying for this group, that we may find peace in our hearts. That we are strengthend in times when we need to say no. May God guide us, and I pray we are able to listen.
