I hope everyone has a good Holy Thursday.

*I am so glad Jesus wasn't a people pleaser, if He were would there have been a cross? May God give me strength to do His will, and live my life for His glory... and not just to please those around me.

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. Still struggling with saying no, especially to my bosses. I can't over work myself, how are they to know unless I say something?

3DOCTORS Yes it is wonderful isnt it ?.It is lovely to read about your day. SInce joining this group I have been noticing the really subtle ways that I am a people pleaser rather than doing what God wants me to do.

Thanks everyone for your kindness and understanding.

Will pray for those facing really gut-wrenching difficulties and all of us no matter how great or small our challenges.

Maybe someone prayed for me yesterday, because I was able to decline a buffet restaurant invitation rather painlessly.

I'm also thinking, I will work on substitute foods and halving my portions. That will probably help a lot. It's much easier if I eat at home and don't go out gallivanting too much anyway.

I know I can't become a recluse but if I'm home I can eat small portions and if my blood sugar drops or my tummy growls, eat another small snack so that I'm tuning into my body rather than being on an artificial schedule imposed from without.

And isn't this kind of symbolic of what we're trying to accomplish here with this group - finding out how to work with what God has given us and not letting someone overstep the boundaries as we discern which way to go with things?

I can feel your pain, 3 doctors. A few years ago the nurse in my doctor's office called me and told me I had to go on a low carb diet because of my test results (which apparently my primary care hadn't seen yet). When I had my appointment a few days later, I had lost 8 pounds. Since I was just recovering from cancer this concerned my primary quite a bit. She asked what was wrong that I lost so much weight so fast. I told her about the phone call and that I usually preferred not to eat rather than to eat what was allowed on a low carb diet. Fortunately, when she looked at my test results she didn't think they were that bad. She told me to eat one piece of toast rather than two for breakfast!

I'm thinking about just cutting out sweet things to try to lose a few more pounds. Unfortunately, I think I am addicted to sugar - another reason to cut sweets out.

My husband doesn't like to go out much. It seems the only time we go out is to eat, so I have a problem there too.

God bless everyone and have a blessed day.

Hi everyone, so glad I found this group and the link to VaticanValues - during a very low point I had a couple of days ago - understanding this concept of being affirmed or unaffirmed, I feel, has shed a lot of light on understanding myself. I pray for all who are in need of this emotional support in their lives - and ask for your prayers too.

ChantalM - It must be hard to wanna stand up to those you love (especially parents) you will be in my prayers. God will give you strength.

Madeline90 - sorry for your hard times I'm glad you are apart of this group! May your heart and emtional/mental well being be healed. It's hard to say no, but practice makes perfect... right?

3DOCTORS, please vent away! Thats as in intended in groups, for support and eager listening ears. First of congratulations on politely saying no. fantastic! I am trying to learn that myself. I find it hard to say no to my sister, she is very loving and wants to make me happy. However, food in my family tends to be a way to say I love you.

This is a problem, when dealing with weight. It's been an ongoing battle... I am an emotional eater, which pleasing everyone and some how seeming to mess it up (either for myself or others) I tend to get my fill. I just can't seem to say no when she suggest.... lets say.... a cupcake (guilty as charged).

As for deiting, a priest was visiting out of town to my parish. He described diet as how we live or what we eat and drink... it made me think about it. There is no get there quick remedies... and some may disagree... but Ive personally seen the affects of those that use quick result remedies... some how it backfires. I personally am learning what my body likes and doesn't like. It's all about balance.

Keep at it, your in my prayers!
