Catholic Martial Artists

Group created by LDNCatholic

I've come across a lot of posters on CAF with an interest in martial arts/combat sports but I couldn't find a group for it so I thought I should make one.

This group is for martial artists and fans of the martial arts of all types, Eastern and Western styles, boxers, wrestlers, armed or unarmed. Hopefully it will be a good place for us to discuss boxing/mma matches, exchange training ideas and tips, or share any interesting information.

He said it much better -

I am more one that believes that once the Magisterium tells me something is inherently evil it becomes off limits. I may want to know why for discussion but I don't play with it.

I don't want to advertise too much here but if you PM me I will send you the info. I am leaving tomorrow morning to train for a week at the hombu and will still be checking in just not as often.
By all means PM me the info, I hope you get a lot out of your training

@Mary Virginia: http://www.squidoo.com/bare-knuckle-boxing and http://www.usadojo.com/articles/bare...le-boxing.html are two sites that giv a good general description of "the noble science of self-defence" that is bare knuckle boxing.

Hello glad to see the group active again. Since moving to New Orleans I have made the decision through much discernment I am not going to be able to keep up with the distance learning. Part of this is due to me not being able ot make the trips to the Hombu due to money and time off and part due to a lack of a training partner. I have taken the opportunity since I am switching schools to discern arts. Since I have been a bit uncomfortable with parts of the Japanese meditation I have started Krav Maga. I am fairly new to it but am enjoying it immensely.

Mary Virginia: I don't actually "fight" bare knuckle: I still use gloves because I don't want to hurt my sparring partner. It's really the style I enjoy and find interesting.

0129141=Wow bare knuckle boxing? Isn't that hard on the head/hands? Ouch!
I used to do Tae kwon do and Kung Fu at the same time for 3 years=soon as I get back to work I plan on doing one or the other as I am older now but I attribute my good health at 57 to the years of training=I do Billy Blanks Tae Bo and it is a really great workout!
Love, love old Kung Fu movies or any Martial arts flicks and learning new moves!

    Peace & Love All! M

I'm going in leaps and bounds with PNF stretching, may have that time cut down to 4 months at this rate.

Have considered looking at the ''Elastic Steel'' DVDs but I haven't got that cash floating about right now.

Was just wondering the same thing. I think the group slowed down getting new people once it got pushed off the ''newest groups'' side bar.

Anyone got some really good leg stretches? My flexibility is shot to pieces and I want to get back into the splits within about 6-8 months.
