Administrators of Justice. That administrators of justice may act always with integrity and right conscience.
Seminaries. That seminaries, especially those of mission churches, may form pastors after the Heart of Christ, fully dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel.

I am here because I absolutely love the Dominican Spirituality and am considering entering with a Dominican community, just not sure which one yet. I am doing on a retreat with the Dominican Sisters of Mary Mother of the Eucharist next month and I am also hoping to visit with the Dominican Nuns in Summit at some point during the summer. I love the Preaching of Truth in everything they do. I feel the world needs to hear the truth whether they like it or not.

If I remember it correct, they're a fraternal community which was a sedeprivationist, but then reconciled with the Holy See. They adopted Dominican rite, yet they aren't a part of the Dominicans.

Hello. This is my first new thread--please pardon any gaffes.

    1) what are you doing for St. Dominic's feast day? (Aug 8th, formerly Aug 4th, with an octave)
    2) Would you take this time to reflect on the past year, pray, and plan for the next? Consider the balance between active & contemplative life; our prayer, study, community, and preaching?

I lurked on CAF a while last year and then left for a long time, but I was glad to see this group. I find myself without a local Dominican community--though the communion of saints is an amazing social network. I'm not sure how active this group is, but I'd like to be part of a virtual Dominican community.

I'm using this time to reflect on my past year and pray and plan for the next year. I've had significant medical trouble since March 2011 (and had several months of no income, because I was too ill to work and ineligible for aid). Anyway, I've rounded a corner--Deo gratias. I was able to resume teaching in spring and just finished teaching a 6-wk Summer course yesterday. I'm still exhausted every day, but now I'll be able to return to my academic research, and I hope and pray to have my dissertation drafted by spring and filed in the summer. I have yet to face the rigors (and reputed horrors) of the academic job market for new humanities PhDs.

Anyway, this is a good time to reflect and renew. It's been about 18 months since I made my profession as a Lay Dominican. The journey was rough this past year. Now that I'm resuming most of my work, it's time to think of the pillars of Dominican spirituality as they pertain to my current situation, my new chronic medical parameters and work responsibilities.

    In Sancto Patre Dominico,
    KR
    oops--a rather long first post!

A letter which recently went out to all branches of the Dominican family on the subject of women and evangelization. As always, the Master writes with great clarity and love.

I'm currently in a Chapter-in-Formation. In order for a In-Formation Chapter to become a full Chapter, they need at least ten Life Professed members. So far were at two. But within the next four years we will, by the grace of God, have eleven.

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and Mother of us all, we come to you for help in our sorrows, trials and necessities. Sin leaves us weak and helpless but Divine Grace heals and strengthens.

We ask for the grace to love Jesus as you loved Him, to believe as you believed, to hope as you hoped; we ask to share your purity of mind and heart. Give us true sorrow for sin and make us love people as you and Jesus loved them. Obtain for us the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we may be wise with your wisdom, understand with your understanding, know with your knowledge, prudent with your prudence, patient with your patience, courageous with your fortitude and desire justice ardently for everyone with the all consuming desire of the Sacred Heart of Jesus your Son.

Open our minds that as we pray the Rosary we will understand the teachings of the Gospel contained in its mysteries.

We pray especially for the members of the Rosary Confraternity whom we love. Help them wherever they may be; guide them, watch over them and make them strong in their trials and suffering. We are drawn together by a common bond of great charity for you and for each other; keep us faithful to your Son and to your Rosary till death.

Intercede for the souls in Purgatory, especially for the members of the Rosary Confraternity who have died. May they rest in peace. Finally we ask for grace of final perseverance for ourselves and for our loved ones that we may all be reunited in heaven forever.

Saint Dominic, you who received so much Grace and Strength from the Rosary, Pray for Us.

“That seemingly trivial incident which was so commonplace that the innkeeper refused a room to His Blessed Mother was the revolution that upset the world and the solution which gave it peace. Driven even off the face of the earth He came to save, His Mother sought refuge in a shepherd’s cave, and there under the floor of the world was born Him who like Samson shook the pillars of the world to its very foundations, pulled down the already crumbling edifice, and built a new Living Temple in its place, where men might once more sing because they had found their God.”

    by St. Thomas Aquinas

Most tender Jesus, may Thy most sacred Body and Blood be my soul's sweetness and delight, health and holiness in every temptation, joy and peace in every sorrow, light and strength in every word and work, and my last safeguard in death.
