For seniors and shut- ins

Group created by flower lady

A group for seniors or shut ins who simply want to talk to someone about anything that you want. Our grandkids, our troubles and concerns, our loneliness. However, we welcome all. With age comes wisdom. With God we can accomplish anything together.

Hello and I joined the Roman Catholic Church in 2009. Long story why it took so long as I was born 74 years ago. I love to chat and always want to learn more about the Roman Catholic Church. Would love someone to chat with as I am in assisted living. My church All Saints in Manassas Va is the largest Catholic church in the state by membership. We have a very excellent Pastor, Father Bob. My church bus picks me up at the door of my assisted living every Sunday. I play piano for the other residents here often and we have much fun. They sing dance around and enjoy the live piano music and I feel so appreciated by them as a result as the staff also. Sandy M of Manassas Va.

which is the greatest problem faced in old age? Illness? being neglected and loneliness, poverty, regret over the blunders made in the past? fear of death and the anguish over life after death?

Love St. Auggie, I apologize to you and the others on the forum for posting the information on the free book on the Immaculate Conception. It was not until I began reading my downloaded 'book' that I realized that it was only a few pages of the book and that if I wanted to read the rest of the book I would have to go to TAN books' website and purchase it. I was very disappointed and I'm sorry for the disappointment it may have caused anyone else.

Thanks for the welcome, Tammany! Although I wouldn't wish my situation on anyone, it is nice to know that others are out there, surviving and still strong in their faith, in spite of what we deal with. I am blessed to have friends and family who listen and care, but I live alone, about an hour away from all of them, I don't know anyone in the town I live in anymore, because I went on disability 11 years ago, and people lose touch with you. I never really felt alone until just recently, after the hip surgery, because I can't get out and shop, etc. I watch the local outreach mass on TV, so I keep connected to my religion that way, and I am grateful for that! Then I got inspired to see if I could find a connection on the internet, and here I am.

ElJai, Welcome to the group! There are a number of us here who struggle with the same issues you are struggling with. This time of the year seems to be particularly challenging. You have a good attitude and I hope you will enjoy this forum. Look at other forums as well. Catholic Answers has loots of opportunities to grow in your faith and to not feel so isolated. God bless.

You can get a FREE book on the Immaculate Conception at Amazon.com.
It is available either for use on a Kindle or can be downloaded to your computer.
Type in the title..."The Ultimate Saints Guide to the Immaculate Conception Free
Book". I successfully downloaded it to my computer. If I can do it...anyone can do it!
    Offer expires TODAY, Dec. 31.

Hello all! I am 50, and although I am able to get around, I am limited somewhat by disability. I had hip replacement surgery in August that did not go well, and find myself dealing with intense pain and depression. I have had back trouble for over 20 years, so I thought I could deal with the emotional baggage I am carrying now, but I find I must turn it over to the Lord. His strength is greater than mine! I am taking medication now to help me, but I find prayer the best pain reliever. The worse part is the sense of isolation I feel, since I am not able to go out and about as I used to. A group like this will ease that pain, I hope! We are not alone when we are together in Christ...
