For seniors and shut- ins

Group created by flower lady

A group for seniors or shut ins who simply want to talk to someone about anything that you want. Our grandkids, our troubles and concerns, our loneliness. However, we welcome all. With age comes wisdom. With God we can accomplish anything together.

    Good morning my dear friends. A couple of quotes I'd like to leave with you today.

    "Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born."

    Dale E. Turner

    "Drean as if you'll live forever...live as if you'll die today."

    James Dean

    Have a good day all!

    Hi and welcome JoAnn, I have arthritis in the sides of my hips and so I know how painful it can be. I pray and offer it up to God for my sins and keep hoping along. By the way, I love Padre Pio, too. Hope you will enjoy the group, and a blessed Sunday to you too. Thank you. Looking forward to chating with you soon.
    Hi, What kind of puppy do you have Hecares? My Dad went out and bought a Newfoundland when we were kids, they are so friendly. I don't know why so many people are so afraid of the BIG dogs, they are usually the friendliest ones. I bet you really enjoy your bilg puppy. Tug of war, now that's funny. He/she sounds more like a big kid. LOL!
    G.H.W. I truly love 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus. All I can say is He is surely my friend. Hope you had a great day today. Did you enjoy your internet Mass? I'm shame to say, I did not go today. I have caught a cold or something. My chest is hurting, like I have bronchitis or something. I might go to see my doctor if it doesn't go away by tomorrow evening. I bought some cold medicine(over the counter) but so far it hasn't done me much good. I really feel lousy today and yesterday. Pray I feel better soon. Luv U.
    Have a wonderful and blessed evening all, I am going to say my prayers and go to bed. Goodnight.

    Hi dear friends! I hope you are all doing well!

    JoAnn - A warm welcome! I'm a shut-in but not a senior! I hope you enjoy our nice group!

    'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

    ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    And to take Him at His Word;
    Just to rest upon His promise,
    And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”

    Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
    How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
    Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
    O for grace to trust Him more!

    O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to trust His cleansing blood;
    And in simple faith to plunge me
    ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

    Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just from sin and self to cease;
    Just from Jesus simply taking
    Life and rest, and joy and peace.

    I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
    Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
    And I know that Thou art with me,
    Wilt be with me to the end. :heaven"

    Welcome JoAnn. I'm a non-shut in senior also. The group is very welcoming and kind anyway.

    I admire all you people who pray so much. I'm still working on fitting it into my life better. I am retired, so just trying to figure where my time goes. I think largely on interruptions. Tonight I was trying to put together my lesson plan for tomorrow's CCD class, and the puppy (a very big puppy) decided it was playtime and kept bringing me a toy to play tug of war with her.

    A blessed unday to all!

    Hello to all, My name is JoAnn and I am definately a senior, not a shut-in, but surely dealing with arthritis, and leg neuropathy. Sometimes it gets rough to get goin, but I try to think of what I have instead on what I don't have. I pray a lot, especially to St. Ann and Padre Pio. I know our Lord listens to them because many times I feel much better and acturally feel healed. I live in Rochester, NY and would like to chat with those who can understand that you reallyt need to be strong to get old. Let's all offer our pain up for those in purgetory for those who need our prayers so that they may pray for us.

    I read this in my 'Magnificat' magazine for Morning Prayer today! I think it's beautiful and i don't remember reading it before!

    Canticle of Sirach (39:13-16a)

    Listen, my faithful children: open up your petals,
    like roses planted near running waters;
    send up the sweet odor of incense,
    break forth in blossoms like the lily.
    Send up the sweet odor of your hymn of praise;
    bless the Lord for all He has done!

    Proclaim the greatness of His name,
    loudly sing His praises,
    with music on the harp and all stringed instruments;
    sing out with joy as you proclaim:
    The works of God are all of them good.

    Hi dear friends! I hope you are all doing well!! Here is the hymn I read today! Enjoy!

    Peace, Perfect Peace

    Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin?
    The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

    Peace, perfect peace, by thronging duties pressed?
    To do the will of Jesus, this is rest.

    Peace, perfect peace, with sorrows surging round?
    On Jesus’ bosom naught but calm is found.

    Peace, perfect peace, with loved ones far away?
    In Jesus’ keeping we are safe, and they.

    Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown?
    Jesus we know, and He is on the throne.

    Peace, perfect peace, death shadowing us and ours?
    Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.

    It is enough: earth’s struggles soon shall cease,
    And Jesus call us to Heaven’s perfect peace.

    Hello my dear friends!!! I hope you are all doing well!!! I love you ALL!!!!

    flower lady - Hello my dear friend! I love, love your poem! Wow! It reminded me of last night! San Diego had a big blackout from afternoon till about 2 am so i had a lot of time to just relax on my couch and gaze up at the moon and think about God! Where do you get all the poems and quotes you share from??? They're so varied!!! You must read a lot! I really liked the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson! It's very true! Many people are sad after someone dies because they didn't tell the dying person that they loved them before they died! It looks like your Dad taught you well about caring and respecting other people! I'm so glad that you like the hymns i share! I read one each day so I'll try to share it here too with you all so we can praise God through them together!

    Now the Day is Over

    Now the day is over,
    Night is drawing nigh,
    Shadows of the evening
    Steal across the sky.

    Now the darkness gathers,
    Stars begin to peep,
    Birds, and beasts and flowers
    Soon will be asleep.

    Jesus, give the weary
    Calm and sweet repose;
    With Thy tenderest blessing
    May mine eyelids close.

    Grant to little children
    Visions bright of Thee;
    Guard the sailors tossing
    On the deep, blue sea.

    Comfort those who suffer,
    Watching late in pain;
    Those who plan some evil
    From their sin restrain.

    Through the long night watches
    May Thine angels spread
    Their white wings above me,
    Watching round my bed.

    When the morning wakens,
    Then may I arise
    Pure, and fresh, and sinless
    In Thy holy eyes.

    Glory to the Father,
    Glory to the Son,
    And to Thee, blest Spirit,
    While all ages run.

    The Man in the Moon

    The blue sky is clear.
    A herd of horses are grazing,
    In the mountainous pastures where green grass grows,
    And the trees wait patiently for their leaves to entertain them,
    Dancing to the songs the soft winds blow.

    The sun shines radiantly over this peaceful
    Landscape, and when night falls, in the serene Heavens,
    With its tiny diamonds scattered about the ebony
    background above, you will see Him relaxing,
    Watching patiently in the moon, cherishing, His perfect,
    Unique, creations: beyond the sceneries of the meadow,
    He rest.

    Have a blessed day all!
