Group created by flower lady

A group for seniors or shut ins who simply want to talk to someone about anything that you want. Our grandkids, our troubles and concerns, our loneliness. However, we welcome all. With age comes wisdom. With God we can accomplish anything together.

G.H.W. you talk about my poems, Speaking of beauty, the feeling is mutual, I think that the prayer/hymns that you post are simply awesome! Most day's when I read them they are just what I need to hear at that time. I do thank you for the time that you spend to share these wonderful prayers with us. Sorry your power was off last night. Have a blessed evening and your prayer; Now the day is over, is gorgeous!

Hello my dear friends!!! I hope you are all doing well!!! I love you ALL!!!!

flower lady - Hello my dear friend! I love, love your poem! Wow! It reminded me of last night! San Diego had a big blackout from afternoon till about 2 am so i had a lot of time to just relax on my couch and gaze up at the moon and think about God! Where do you get all the poems and quotes you share from??? They're so varied!!! You must read a lot! I really liked the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson! It's very true! Many people are sad after someone dies because they didn't tell the dying person that they loved them before they died! It looks like your Dad taught you well about caring and respecting other people! I'm so glad that you like the hymns i share! I read one each day so I'll try to share it here too with you all so we can praise God through them together!

    Now the Day is Over

    Now the day is over,
    Night is drawing nigh,
    Shadows of the evening
    Steal across the sky.

    Now the darkness gathers,
    Stars begin to peep,
    Birds, and beasts and flowers
    Soon will be asleep.

    Jesus, give the weary
    Calm and sweet repose;
    With Thy tenderest blessing
    May mine eyelids close.

    Grant to little children
    Visions bright of Thee;
    Guard the sailors tossing
    On the deep, blue sea.

    Comfort those who suffer,
    Watching late in pain;
    Those who plan some evil
    From their sin restrain.

    Through the long night watches
    May Thine angels spread
    Their white wings above me,
    Watching round my bed.

    When the morning wakens,
    Then may I arise
    Pure, and fresh, and sinless
    In Thy holy eyes.

    Glory to the Father,
    Glory to the Son,
    And to Thee, blest Spirit,
    While all ages run.

    The Man in the Moon

    The blue sky is clear.
A herd of horses are grazing,
In the mountainous pastures where green grass grows,
And the trees wait patiently for their leaves to entertain them,
Dancing to the songs the soft winds blow.

The sun shines radiantly over this peaceful
Landscape, and when night falls, in the serene Heavens,
With its tiny diamonds scattered about the ebony
background above, you will see Him relaxing,
Watching patiently in the moon, cherishing, His perfect,
Unique, creations: beyond the sceneries of the meadow,
    He rest.

    Have a blessed day all!

Good morning! G.H.W. Good to hear you enjoyed the poems I posted. As far as 2 Pac, a lot of people can't relate. They could if the world weren't full of prejudicies and arrogance. I guess you have to live in poverty and come from the hood to truly understand. And I wasn't brought up in poverty but my dad loved everybody. I'm in poverty now! That's my fault, if I had finished school, like he told me too, I may not be. And he was paying for all of my books and tuition when I was in school. Shame on me! (To late now). I was so hardheaded, I'm paying now.He taught us that all of God's children should be treated with dignity and respect. I been all over in every neighborhood in Detroit and had friends there. It's easy to say you understand and that you feel for these people ,but I don't see many doing anything to help. It's just talk mostly. I watched the mass this morning on EWTN and the priest was talking about all the babies that are aborted in this world. As he said, "yes there are some people out here working hard to save these babies, but too many do nothing" Dialogue is cheap!! Missing your prayers. When I see your post I expect to see a prayer hymn, I have learned to look forward to them. LOL! Seems like somethings misssing when they are not there.

"You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late."

    Ralph Waldo Emerson

    Story of a Thief

I sat contemplating of robbing a store,
Why not? I'm broke, hungry: the economy's poor.
I walked toward the store, I gazed up at the clouds, and whom did I see?
A mysterious woman staring at me,
Above her I noticed this strange blinding beam, and
Although she was real, it seemed like a dream.
With hair jet black as the sky in the night,
She wore a splendid crown with jewels that shone bright.
A man stood beside her, he moaned and then sighed,
covered in blood, as tears flowed from his eyes,
I fell to my knees, I repented with fear,
Then she smiled at me gently, and they both disappeared.

In the mood for Tupac Shakur's poems today.

    The Power of a Smile

The power of a gun can kill
and the power of fire can burn
the power of wind can chill
and the power of a mind can learn
The power of anger can rage inside until it tears u apart
but the power of a smile
especially yours can heal a frozen heart.

    Life Through My Eyes

    Life through my bloodshot eyes
would scare a square 2 death
    poverty, murder, violence
and never a moment 2 rest
    Fun and games are few
but treasured like gold 2 me
Cuz I realize that I must return
    2 my spot in poverty
But mock my words when I say
    my heart will not exist
    unless my destiny comes through
and puts an end 2 all of this

I could never say that I agree with all of his views, but I understood him.
    May he rest in peace.

Hello, my dear friends. G.H.W. That's a good one for sure. And all we women know it's true. We make them THINK they are running things. LOL! Oh I don't know that St. Michael was there, but I surely believe it. Closed chapter, my family doesn't have to worry anymore about her, we can rest now.
Horgan, looks like I learn something new everyday. I didn't know the story about the blessed Lady's birthday, but I believe you did tell us about St. Adrian in antoher group and I did read about him. Thanks for the info.
Well Gee! My son just walked in and gave me a hundred dollars and told me my nephew Paris, sent it to me. I was so broke too. Wasn't that a nice blessing from God. Paris is sweet like that anyway.

Dear flowerlady (Just don't you like this attachment) The Birthday of Mary is not contained in the Bible. There are, according to Vatican 2 two sources of Revelation:The Sacred Scriptures and Tradition. For over 1500 years,we have celebrated Sep.8th as the birthday of Mary,It is of Eastern origion & was first celebrated in Jerusalem in the 5th century.By remembering this day we are living the words of Luke 1,48 which tell of all people calling her (Mary) blessed. Through her birth, the future birth of Christ Our Saviour was made possible. As for St Adrian,he was a Roman soldier who came to a grisely end becuase he was a Christian and would not denounce Jesus as His Saviour. He suffered a cruel death and is the Patron saint of butchers & soldiers.Hecares I,too, was impressed about St Michael & the Cursillo. St Paul says "God works in mysterious ways" Gods Holy Will, one question...was that man in the joke, who was told to stand there, your husband???Hecares, the USA seems to be copping a hiding from the weather, bushfires in Texas (1,000 homes destroyed, floods in Vermont & New Jersey, hurricanes etc,,,,,,,,,much safer in the Land down Under!! Every blessing & happiness to you all Adrian
