For seniors and shut- ins

Group created by flower lady

A group for seniors or shut ins who simply want to talk to someone about anything that you want. Our grandkids, our troubles and concerns, our loneliness. However, we welcome all. With age comes wisdom. With God we can accomplish anything together.

Dear Pat.h thank you for your interesting post about over analysing our Faith and causing distractions especially as we attempt to deepen our communion with God. God is primarily a mystery to us;"his ways are above our ways, his thoughts above our thoughts" Isaiah 55,9In our natural human condition we have only a limited knowledge of God..Our Catholic belief is that God freely chose to communicate himself to us,,this free gift is known as supernatural revelation. We believe that on His own initiative God "unveiled Himself" in human history by inviting us to share in His very life;by addressing us as friends in order to receive us into His own company. His self-disclosure,his nvitation to a deeper love and life is purely a gift on His part.God's revelation invites a human response. That response is known as FAITH.In the Letter to the Hebrews faith is defined as the "confident assurance concerning what we hope for,and conviction about things we do not see (11,1We get the strength & grace to live and believe God's truth and life from God Himself.Analysis is dangerous if it "sees things" that are not in God's Revelation there are enough distractions in life that can lead us away from a true Faith. The prayer of St Thomas ("Doubting Thomas") My Lord and My God is very apt here. God bless you all with a lively faith & response to a Loving God.

flowerlady God's Holy Will,PatH & all members, hello. Path,if its any consolation we are in winter and we are sharing your rain, cold and low temps. The weather experts are forccasting our coldest winter in 40 years.God' Holy Will,I hope the new manager will be kind and caring as the last one. Both you and friend flowerlady are very brave people as you struggle to overcome the problems of addiction Sometimes its good to see a doctor. In Australia we have remedies to help overcome smoking such as Nicobat. It comes in the form of patches and gum that you chew to help overcome the addiction. A doctor might be able to help with alcohol addiction. There are such groups as Alcoholic Anonymous (A.A) and good counsellors as well. Prayer is of the upmost importance in all of this and I find the Serenity Prayer to be of great support. Also the prayer of our parish patron,St Ignatius For Courage. "Lord Jesus teach me to be generous;teach me to serve you as you deserve;to fight & not to heed the wounds;to toil and not seek for rest;to labor and not seek reward except that of knowing that I do your will" God bless you all,you are very much in our prayers Adrian

Hi Everyone!!! Today I found out that my apartment complex's new property manager is leaving. He lives on site with his son and he was so helpful and nice that it's sad to lose him. I don't know why he is leaving. The people in my complex all have mental disabilities so it takes a special kind of manager to both manage the property and deal with people with mental disabilities. Please pray that we will get a good manager who is also kind soon! Thank you my friends and God bless you abundantly!

Pat - I pray the weather there will warm up soon for you!

flower lady - I am so proud of you that you are quitting smoking!!! I smoke too so I want you to quit and be an inspiration to me! You can do it and you will be in my prayers!!!!! Keep us posted on your progress! Feel free to vent! Whining, complaining, and growling are perfectly ok! God bless you on your journey! Remember there will be some days where you just feel like giving in, but don't do it because good days will follow!!! May Our Blessed lady keep you safely under Her mantle of protection and love!

S.K. I hope and pray that both of our prayers be answered, keep the faith. We must remember that faith is the substance of things HOPED FOR not yet seen. Luv u. We will keep praying.
Pat, it's been chilly here in Detroit too. I am so sick of this crazy weather. Cold two days hot the next. Maybe this too has to do with the global warming. Do you think?
Yes horgan! It is time they called. Well, better late than never. I am laughing so hard at the smiles on crutches, funny I never ever noticed that one before. That is too cute, and little fellow is right it keeps you out of breath. LOL.
Gods Holy Will, we are about to be on a mission together, because I am coughing my brains out like an idiot. I had a heart attack last summer from smoking these nasty squares and the doctor warned me of another real soon if I did not put down these things. It is so hard. I have to do like you, be strong and trust Our Lady. But I realise I do need to make an effort. Besides a pack of Newports cost $6.50. I must be out of my mind as poor as I am. I am going to quit tomorrow because I do have a few left in this pack I bought this morning. I hope I make it. If I start whinning, complaining and growling in my future post, don't be mad at me guys, it will be because I need a square. Aha ha.God's Holy Will has convinced me that I can do this. Pray for me.
Hi Angle, I hope you are feeling better.

I went to my grandson's graduation this morning(he is five) with my 2 daughters, nephew, and granddaugter and two other friends, and we dragged the two babies with us, and yes we are all very close horgan. We had so much fun and the kids were so funny and cute. His mom bought him balloons and gifts, and we all signed a card for him. They received their awards and sang songs and well it was very nice. Then we went to his moms house(my youngest daughter) and she ordered food for everybody and we ate and talked and it was all good. Take care my dear friends and God bless you all.

Hi everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday! "This is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad!"

flower lady - I am so happy that your church is going to put your need for a ride to church in the bulletin! Amen! I am praying that a wonderful person will lovingly respond with a big "Yes!" I'm praying for you! I am sorry to hear that you are on crutches my friend. The Lord has obviously entrusted you with a big cross! God bless you for bearing it with grace and your cheerful disposition! I am sure you make Our Lord proud even if it's hard for you sometimes! You know when in one of your posts you quoted John Dryden in saying "Better shun the bait than struggle in the snare." Well I had quite an experience with that a few days ago! As you know, I quit drinking alcohol over a month ago and have been keeping myself under The Blessed Mother's protection that she keep me from drinking! The other day I was tempted to drink and walked half way to the liquor store when I realized that it would be a terrible choice because I knew that if I did drink, the Holy Spirit, in His love for me, would let something bad happen to me so i would learn my lesson and get back on the right path! Thank God i was able to "shun the bait" so i didn't have to "struggle in the snare" that day! I pray that I will never drink again! I wrote a list of at least 17 reasons I should not drink! I am honored that you are still doing a novena for me and you and that you prayed a chaplet for our group!!!

flowerlady At last "good news" from your church and it is about time.I pray that some good person (and there are many of them) will come and give you a lift to the Church. You don't seem to have much time to yourself with all the coming and goings of your family.....it proves that you have established and maintained a good bond of love & communication with them (A lot of hard work!) Keep well and be your usual bright outgoing self Adrian

To sheilakathy "tomorrow is my next chance" I pray & hope that by the time you read this, your desire has come a reality. I must apologise for the priest & deacon ignoring you,I feel so ashamed and such a incident should not take place in a Church. On the positive side, you are a woman of great Faith. Faith is acceting the Lord and his life by living it and believing it.We get this strength to live and believe God's truth & life from God Himself. Our belief is that the Father, continues to invite us through the promptings of the Holy Spirit into a loving union with Him by way of His Son Jesus Christ who lives and saves all people even today.God bless you and continue to walk with you,not in front nor behind, but next to you. Adrian
