For seniors and shut- ins

Group created by flower lady

A group for seniors or shut ins who simply want to talk to someone about anything that you want. Our grandkids, our troubles and concerns, our loneliness. However, we welcome all. With age comes wisdom. With God we can accomplish anything together.

    Ah, Roseo64, I love it!

Kelly, are you reading my mind? I too have a fast temper at times, finding it difficult to deal with my frisky grands. It's a trying job alright. Love your prayer, I need to copy that one.
    A few quotes on patience.

"The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it." Arnold H. Glasgow

"Patience can't be acquired overnight. It is like building up a muscle. Every day you need to work on it." Eknath Easwaran

God knows as much time as you spend with your kids and as many pictures you show us, and as much as you talk about them, that you are a wonderful mom. Who's perfect? I always admired how you are teaching them about the church. So many people don't teach their kids about God, leave alone take the time to take them to church on Sundays.

Have a good day all! Brenda

Lord give me patience and understanding; today I plea
Oh Jesus sometimes my children will truly annoy me
But God I truly love them; yes Lord.... all three !!!
Lord you know me and you know my temper that's bad
We're all your children ; I shouldn't make even one ever sad
Forgive me for all my iniquities ,shortcomings and mistakes

Thanks for the welcome flowerlady. I was in your part of the world, well not exactly, in May of 2009, and it is a great contrast to see Valparaiso, Indiana in the Spring. It is located two hours away from South Bend. The place looks well lived in. I remember when my father was in the Navy areas such as Norfolk, Virginia in June of 1955 looked like wilderness. There were many trees and flowers all around. Well take care and glad to be part of the group. This old timer wishes you Christ blessing this week.

Me2nd, their were 2 children at our church who received their first communion and it was special indeed. They were beautiful in their white laced dresses. Sweet! I suppose many of you already know that I am a cancer survivor. I had breast cancer about 10 yrs. ago and had to have a right mastectomy. God was surely with me. My cancer was so brand new until I didn't have to have chemo or radiation. I'll tell you God is merciful. I am so sorry for the people who suffer with hair loss and sickness from cancer. It's terrible. I try and remember them in my prayers. Hope you scored well on your test.

For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Jesus we trust in you.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. I really enjoy reading yall's comments! As for me....it has been a long few days. I'm finishing up finals for the semester, and they are tough this round. On a different note, it was first Communion at our church yesterday though; how beautiful to watch their excited faces and to remember what it was like to receive Jesus for the first time myself.

Flower lady - You crack me up talking about growing plants. I am the same way. I once kept a bamboo plant alive for a year, but it doesn't take any work to care for them, so I don't know if that even counts.

Jane of Arc - I agree, it's amazing how he did so much. It's beautiful to see people rise above their situations. My father had cancer a few years ago. During parts of his chemo treatments, he was so weak that he couldn't even walk down the hallway. However, he used his story and his journey to inspire others. He was weak for some time, but through his disease, his brother who had been away from the church for some 20 years began praying again. Even if we can't see it immediately, I believe God can always use our sufferings for some bigger purpose if we'll allow Him. I will continue to keep you in my prayers, and like roseo64 said, let us know when your surgery is.

    ~Me2nd

1 Peter 6-7: In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire —may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
