The Church is a big tent. I had to sort out just how big that tent was. There's so much variety within in, though, all of which is consistent with the Church's teachings. If Thomas Merton and Thomas Keating and Christopher Jamison and Richard Rohr (and many, many others) all have a place, I have a place. It took a while to see that, and to not be put off by the overly "conservative" and the overly "liberal" opinions of others on the question of what the Church is and what a Catholic is.

I took John XXIII as my confirmation name. I like to think I was the miracle that finally made him a saint.

I almost went with Francis, and then we had a new Pope Francis just a few months later (with whom I'm very pleased).

It's been well over a year. November 2012. In fact, I may have already been Catholic last time I posted on here... I don't remember how long it's been.

I was in the RCIA classes beginning Fall 2011. I opted not to enter at Easter 2012--still considering everything. Then several months later decided for certain, and my priest suggested I and another person not wait the 6 months until Easter 2013.

PR, you continue to amaze me and have one of the greatest apologetics styles I have seen. Just a show of appreciation. You are one of those that makes me proud to be Catholic.

    God bless.
