Hi 4elise, I miss arguing with you ----just kidding.. No seriously I do miss the climate change thread though, just wish I could find more of your posts on CAF. I do enjoy hearing your view on things... Anyways, I hope you are doing well and have a Merry Christmas.
Following the cue of the Holy Father and in the spirit of St. Francis' love for nature and animals, please consider utilizing Ecosia as your search engine. It donates 80% of its advertising-generated revenue to save rainforests, to reduce CO2 & to preserve habitats for thousands of species. It's free, of course. http://www.Ecosia.org.
Also, please follow me on Twitter - EducOrlando- for updates on the butterflies growing in space [at the International Space Station].

This is a very happy week for my family, first my 80th birthday, and then Thanksgiving Day with all of us. Even our pinochle group gave me a card and a party too. We have many things to be thankful. I'm thankful for this group on Catholic Answers too.
I forgot to ask, did you go vegan all at once, from eating meat, or was there a non-vegan vegetarian phase in there?
I've been slowly learning more about the effects of huge factory-farms of all types on the earth and the people and animals who are associated with them - it really is terrible. I spent a year (years ago) working in a small, conventional dairy and was horrified by the way "my" cows were treated.
Pax et bonum
I love the connections you make!
I'm not a vegan - except during the Fasts - or even really a vegetarian, though we rarely eat meat, but the only reason I do eat any animal products at all is because I can find local, (truly) free-range, small-farm raised products. It's more expensive, but the idea of associating with factory-farming in any way is honestly too repulsive for words. I feel like this is an acceptable way of dealing with the issues around animal consumption. There is a sort of spiritual loveliness (I'm not sure exactly how to describe it) about veganism though, I love Lent and Advent, and the sharper focus I have when I'm eating only green, live things.
Thanks so much for your reply! It's really refreshing to meet up with some people who obviously care about their faith - above and beyond the token "Catholic concerns" we too often limit ourselves to! I really appreciated your reviving the Walmart thread as well - in time to encourage everyone to re-think Christmas shopping. Thanks, and many blessings!
