Hey Paesan, Thank you for the info on "our" area. I'll get there someday, have to save my pennies first.
Oh, did your family ever commonly use the word ciao? Mine never did. I had never even heard the word until I was in Roma in the early 1970's. Was my family just weird, or wasn't that a word commonly used in "our" area? Take care
Ciao amico, come va? Hey, just joined a group here called "Little Italy", you should check it out. Not really sure how I found them, but I think you would like them. They don't look too active, but if you joined, I'm sure they would perk right up! Take care
Ciao Paesano!!!!!!
That is really something that our relatives might even know each other back "home". Would LOVE to visit Tuscany some day. I used to be a stewardess back in the 70's and flew internationally. I've been to Venezia, Roma, The Vatican, Napoli, and Pompeii, but never got to Tuscany. I've heard that it is very similar to El Dorado county, but I don't know. It could be very similar to Sierra county, Napa county,or Mendocino county for all I know. But Tuscany would be my dream vacation. My Nonni used to be the one in the family that kept in touch with everyone back in Italy. When she died, we lost contact w/ everyone. Neither my Mom, Uncle Dino, or Aunt Norma could write in Italian, and they couldn't write in English, so we all lost touch. Why they didn't use a phone I don't know. I have an old address, but now we are talking about people no longer around. Oh well.......
Take care and have a good rest of the weekend
Hi Luigi, saw your message the other day. I'm new w/ the computer and was having all kinds of trouble that day. Some nice person took pity on me and fixed my forum up and it works beautifully. I am 1/2 Italian on my Mom's side. My Nonno was from the Cararra area, and my Nonni was from the Viareggio area around Lucca in Tuscany . So you in from Norcal too, what a beautiful part of the state we live in. Take care, and see you around the threads.
