My question is about a book I have started to read. It is called Conversations with God, an uncommon dialogue, book 1, by Neale Donald Walsch. Has the Catholic Church commented on this book? I don't see an imprimatur anywhere. Very interesting. Thank you so much for this site.
Peggy,
Praise be to God! I was in the confessional the other day. A couple of venial sins were on my conscious, so I confessed them. The Priest offered some counsel and my penance. He didn't ask me for an Act of Contrition, and immediately announced absolution.
Does the degree of sin determine the need for an Act of Contrition on the part of the penetant?
Was the absolution valid?
I thiought showing contrition of heart was essential in receiving absolution, so what should I do if this were to happen again?
Thank You and Catholic Answers for your service to God and his Church!
Hi Ms. Frye,
I am looking to know if lay people are able to use holy water to bless their homes? Also, can lay people use the blessed oils, perfumes, olive oil they purchase for their home use to cleanse themselves and welcome the holy spirit in our homes as well as use/purchase blessed incenses as well? Please let me know how we are allowed to use these items for our own home/personal use to invite a clean invironment to welcome the holy spirit.
( Spices?, Cinnomon, Myrrh, Frankencense, Spikenard, Olive Oil, Holy Water etc)
Please let me know what is right, so that I may use it correctly.
Thank you.
I have a difficult question...If I am to be truthful, and say I 1. look at someone (not truly lustfully or, if so, not severely) but look at a women's breasts, and they don't know it, do I tell them I did and apologize or do I keep my thoughts between God and myself?
2 say I look at someone and think something bad, like they need to lose weight, or something just rude and such, do I need to tell them I thought that or do I keep my thought(s) between God and Myself?
hi Peggy! can you please teach me how to delete my older posts? of threads? thank you thank you thangk you. AND, how do i delete my account? thank you thankg you thank you!
Are you, by any chance, related to Bishop Frye, of the Lafayette Diocese of Louisiana? Or is this your "stage name". He was our bishop up until the 70's I believe. I'm no longer there, but just curious.
I have found myself drawn to a parish other than my own. But my major monthly donations go to my original parish. I would like to join the second parish ALSO and give half of my donations to each parish.
Can a Catholic be registered in two separate parishes? If not, should I simply donate half to each anyway?
How can protestant theologians fail to see that Jesus was talking about His real presence in the Eucharist in John 6? If Jesus was speaking metaphorically or symbolically as Protestants adjudicate, why did His desciples walk away from Him and leave? Jesus never went after them explaining to them that he was speaking symbolically. Instead Christ asks His own apostles if they are going to leave Him too? How can learned, scholarly. Protestant theologians not see this extraordinary evidence that speaks to only one interpretation of John 6, Jesus said what He meant and meant what He said.
I have a problem understanding the reason or logic behind why our Lord God would send a human body & soul into a fire pit for all eternity instead of just terminating its existence. Furthermore, it is my
understanding God created mankind to enjoy eternal happiness not eternal torment.
Many religions including many Jews do not accept the concept of Hell or even Hell. However, Catholic dogma & the Pope sustain the concept. Bye the way, I haven't seen any evidence in the Old
Testement at least through the sections I've read so far that supports the concept of a Hell.
However, in the New Testement Jesus talked more about Hell than Heaven at least
the way I interputed the readings. So, my fear is with the partial & general judgement by Jesus who is more focused on Hell while God the father eliminated the evil doer's by taking away their human life.
(Old Testement vs New Testement) Please don't give me cook book answers (we choose to go there etc.) Thank you, joeyvt
Hi Peggy,
You won't remember me but we met a long time ago at the office when I was visitng a friend in SD, You were not an aoplogist then, congratualtions. I'd been a supporter of Catholic Answers and you were kind enough to show me around and introduce me to everyone.
Quick question, I can't for the life of me remember where in the Bible it says that if there is confusion or disagrrement to "bring it to the church". I have given so much of my apologetic material awy over the years to help others, time for me to replenish LOL
Thanks and God Bless
