Eucharisted interesting question and comment. During my first year as a physics student someone asked prof. Amaldi the following question: "What is the relation between physics and religion?". Amaldi founded that physics department together with Enrico Fermi, and he was very devout person. He simply answered "none". Religion is about the Truth, while physics is a method to give the simplest explanation to an observable event, no immediate relation between the two of them except that both come from God.

Understanding physics can make the understanding of some theological aspects much easier, and it is not a surprise to me that you find more religious persons among physicists then among social scientists. Knowing physics and thinking in those terms helped me giving a better idea to the catechism students about the concept of the re-presentation of the Mass and of the interaction between karios and kronos.

You will be interested to read the story of John Polkinghorne. A lot of physicists probably went through the same path.

Hmm, I've never met a physists before. How has your knowledge helped you better know God? I know when the Lord created the Universe He was thinking of us, so, when He was creating the laws of physics, He must have been thinking of you, and created the laws in such a way that you would be fascinated by them and be able to find a job concerning them, thereby helping you be a better person - which would be a perfect excuse for Him to give you Mercy and graces.

LOL yeah, I'll miss Austin too. A lot of things about it anyhow. The weather not so much although it's been nice now for a few weeks. I'd honestly rather not move to Kansas but it's where the family may be heading. (I mean...Kansas?! I've never even been there lol.) So, we'll have to see what happens. Right now we're just in a holding pattern waiting for news.
