Into the third week of your summer vacation, I'm envious - mine only starts on 12 July and I fly home on the 14th - 3 weeks and 5 days from now. Enjoy your vacation, I guess that yours will end before mine, I start at the end of August and our students start on 9 September.
Hi Gertabelle -- How have things been with you? I know I haven't been around much. But when I am, you're one of the people who always comes to mind as someone I think of as a friend.
It is amazing the things we can learn to do!
I envy your 18 days; 45 until our students finish - 57 until my quick holiday in Jordan and 61 until I get back home to South Africa and meet the new grandson.......I'm not counting anything either
Hi Amanda, just getting back to CAF after being a drop-in visitor for way too long. Trying to find all the people I used to interact with back then......... I see you'll be playing for Mass after the supposed "end of the world", so I guess your surgeries on your hand have gone well (or you've learned to adapt). See you around on the forums. Vivienne
Hi Gertabelle --- Yes it has been a long time. It's partly my fault. I haven't been here very often lately. I enjoy talking with you too. One of the reasons I haven't been here much is when I'm online, I've been spending more time on Facebook. Sometimes I feel like I'm spreading myself a little thin. But I do have friends that spend time there too.
But I always feel guilty that I haven't been here much lately. How was your Christmas and New Year. Mine was nice. Now my family is in Birthday mode. We at least have one birthday a month for a while.
On another note, I went to a lovely retreat the weekend before last at a Passionist Retreat House here in Pittsburgh. It was lovely and I'm thinking about going back next year.
Thank you Amanda for your prayers for me. I do appreciate them very much. Oh, how lazy I've become. I need to get back online more often again. But I do appreicate friends like you.
Just came here to respond to the message you left me and explain where I've been, but my troubles are as nothing compared to your Palm Sunday injury. How are you doing now?
Our children have 7 weeks to go. Our big concert (called a "Production" and it is one, believe me) was 2 weeks ago, so it's good to have that behind us, just loads of assessments to do over the next 4 weeks. Basically my lap top and my modem were terminally ill the week after the production. I'd been considering a replacement for the lap top for a while, and had to take action sooner than expected, then the modem died completely, but diagnosis took a good few days. Now on new computer and modem and everything should run well for a couple of years. I've also been having to deal with some big problems at the house I still own in SA - not easy with computer and internet problems and the house stuff is still a problem.
On Palm Sunday I seriously injured my left hand. The surgeon had to amputate my index finger below the second knuckle, and my remaining three fingers were sewn and pinned back together. In a future surgery, I may have a nerve graft to restore sensation to my middle finger. Please keep me in your prayers as I recover from this and relearn to play the piano, guitar, etc., as well as typing. Meanwhile, the doctorate is on hold...
