Thoughts on Garry Wills 2013 book “Why Priests? A Failed Tradition”. Wills is being his usual provocative self, arguing that the “real” solution to the problem of diminishing numbers of priests is . . . no priests. That includes bishops and popes according to Garry.
He asserts that there were no priests in the church at first. This, of course, has fundamental ramifications in regard to the Eucharist. What does an apologist say?

I am a compulsive giver. Sometimes I give over half my monthly income and then struggle to pay my bills- no savings whatsoever, but at least I do not use charge cards. For over one year I've prayed for my grandchildren to go to a good, real Catholic school. Now, their parents decided to send them, but are asking my help- $500 per month and that's not even half the expense. I want to help, but if I do, I will have to stop giving to my favorite prolife and Catholic charities, such as EWTN. Thanks for any wise advice!

Guess what? We are now living in Maple Valley, WA! And I have found myself the vendor coordinator for the Northwest Catholic Home Educators Conference up here in June. I was sending you a note to ask you if you would like me to place pamphlets in guest bags for you or Catholic Answers. Let me know. You can also opt to join us...speakers are full but tables are available. The event is over Pentecost weekend...a Friday and Saturday - June 10th - 11th. Let me know if you are interested. Also, Ed and I are becoming very active at our parish out here - St. Stephen the Martyr in Renton. It is a Roman Catholic parish. I can't help but think of your materials and also Catholic Answers'. Would you want to get some to me and I can place them in the displays in the Narthex? Let me know. Anyway, let me know if any of this interests you or Catholic Answers. Let's chat sometime soon! Blessings...love to the family! Jan Kaiser

    Dear Mr. Lenahan,

I don't know who to go to about this. I've been breaking forum rules in the prayer intention forums without realizing it by giving advice out instead of just praying. I wish to make it known to the moderators so that it can be addressed properly. I am sorry about this. Thank you for listening

    God Bless

    Dear Sir, Mr. Lenahan,
I wish to tell you that I have always admired your dedicated and immovable stance pro Catholicism; I like the way you don't let other people's stupid remarks pass but tackle them immediately. As I am in South Africa I won't see you but I would love to thank you in person for your bravery. Yours truly,

my nic is LayDominican and I have been on the boards doing Catholic Apologetic work for some time now. Both my wife,Ginger and I, are perpetually professed Dominicans. We are both retired and struggling along supporting our daughter and her husband, their 7 children, our grandkids, a jack russell dog, parakeet 7 hermit craps and a number of fish. Never a dull moment.

I have been doing Apologetics work for sometime on the computer. I am now in a 'skrimish" with some Moslems to prove that Jesus said he was indeed God. And why the Church denounce the Gnostics Gospels? This Moslems are very well read and do indeed know how to phrase a question.
