Hello, your post on the thread about the teen who fell off the balcony was on target. The teen drinking is accepted by so many parents, Catholic and non-Catholic. It makes me want to homeschool.

    Dear Maria Theresa,

Sometimes you just have to accept sorrow as a part of life....remember Jesus has been called a "Man of Sorrows" and Mary has been called "Mother of Sorrows"...this may be due to a chronic mental illness or due to some situation, (e.g., grief) where in both cases sorrow is "normal"......

Remember your sorrow is ONLY TEMPORARY...it may take some time, some medication, even shock treatment in cases of very deep depression to move on past the sorrow......

Since you have a family, try to understand that your feelings do affect them, too, no matter how much you may try to hide your anxiety or depression so get whatever counsel you need to help you get on a more level footing...if one counselor is unhelpful, keep looking because good counselors are hard to find.....

I had shock treatment 40 years ago for great depression...I am bipolar and have to take medication but live a happy, normal life...the shock was the only thing that finally worked for me......so keep searching if you find yourself unable to get out of a deep funk...and if you can bare it, think of how close this sorrow draws you to Jesus, who was a "Man of Sorrows"...

You and your family are in my prayers,

    Symphonic
