Default Username change?

Mimi,

We don't change usernames as it causes more problems than it solves.

As you can see, your username appears in the post quote box that may be used by other members. It may also have been used by you and other members inside the body of posts. This post alone has 3 instances of your username in it (only one of which is linked in the database to your account).

On top of that, name overlap is quite common. Some 50 CAF members have "Mimi" as a distinct part of their username. Tracking down and evaluating every instance referencing a unique individual within the database (and changing only those instances that are user-specific) requires technical database specialists, and would be time-consuming, expensive (and therefore practically impossible).

And without that complete and precise username swap, thread conversations would get quite confusing and result in increased tech support reports.

So while we want to accommodate member requests, as a practical matter, we don't have the resources to change usernames.

Our best recommendation is to just create a new account with a new username. Your status would start from scratch. You can submit a request to Therese Martin to change that status to reflect your actual history, but there would be no guarantees on our ability to process that request due to competing priorities and issues that continually crop up.
