Cool Math Tutoring

I thought I would create this thread for anyone who is interested in Math tutoring, is a math tutor, or has been a math tutor and would like to ask questions related to tutoring and share experiences.

Anyone ever heard of WolframAlpha?
If you know how to use it (it explains it) it will walk you through math equations step by step.

P.S. - NO CHEATING

I have heard about it, but I have never used it. I will echo the same views about a website called cramster, which is popular with some math students and science students as well. It can explain steps (usually for problems out of your text book!) and have the answer for you. It is a bit of a problem regarding cheating. The website does however, have an anti-cheating policy and also lets people turn in members who use the site to cheat. I have used it once, and I will say that they definitely have most of the answers down, but I will say that it is best used as a last resort, when instructors, classmates, and tutors are unavailable. I will say that cramster is better than the back of the book because the explanations, but it isn't a "magic bullet."

Im not familiar with cramster, but with wolframalpha, you can just put in the problem, tell it waht kind it is, and it will solve it, with explinations and alternative answars

Reminds me of Maple. I still have to try Wolfram, but I can tell you that Maple doesn't count as beginner friendly. At least the graphs are nice, though.

Out of curiosity, is Wolfram free?
