my fav from the book & movie is Aragorn......and although i think Peter Jackson's Aragorn is cooler i think Tolken's is better in that he is an undeniable Christ figure!!!!!!

My favorite LOTR character is Frodo. He went to Mordor even though he really didn't want to.

I like Pippin. He was always putting his nose in places it shouldn't be and come out smelling like a rose.

It's quite possible that I have too many favorites...and most of my favorites are faih related. From LOTR, definitely if I had to choose it would be Frodo for the same reasons..I would also add that he's very wise...he's also not so much out of control in the books as he is in the movies. I feel like in the movies they made him almost like a heroin addict, which was a cool dimension, in a way. Second, Tom Bombadill, because the whole thing is just so strange and I don't think I understand him as much as the others. Third, Gandalf. He always maintains the wisdom. Fourth, Faramir. In the book he is probably the best man in middle earth if you don't count Aragorn. Fifth, Saruman...once very good, wise and revered.. but later beguiled by the evil one, allowed his ego to take over until all his intellect turned into madness. Sixth, Gollum...the ultimate tortured soul...his weak will allways getting him into deep trouble..guilt, regret and shame just turn him into a mutilated mess who turns to darkness and evil. Seventh, Aowyn...She's a leader and incredibly fearless, but in the end she sees that a greater virtue than fighting is healing. Ok, 7 is enough for now, I think. |

That's quite alot!
I do like Frodo because he risked everything for the people he loved, and he was always kind to Gollum. He was much better in the books than the movies I think. I also like Gandalf because he is so kind and wise. One of my favorite scenes with him in the movies is when he tells Frodo not to be too eager to deal out death (concerning Gollum). "Some that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them?" Good scene. Especially when many people that watch adventure movies are egging the good guy on to get the bad guy.But anyways, Sam is still my favorite. Because he's the one you can count on to always be there to help Frodo and he never gives up hope, even when Frodo says he hasn't any hope left to keep up. I think when Frodo ran out of hope, it was Sam that kept him going. |

Definitely! One of my faves, too. "But anyways, Sam is still my favorite. Speaking of Sam, once a long time ago, I was listening to a show on EWTN and the actor that played Sam called in! It was cool to know that he listens to Catholic radio!
