Hi,
I'm wondering what is the Catholic response to this information?
http://www.orthodoxchristianity.net/...?topic=13409.0
Pope Vigilius was excommunicated by the Council...
doesn't that contradict what we believe about the Papacy?
Is there a response to this? I don't know enough of the history to figure out what actually happened....
I know there are many other cases in history where the Papacy is supported.. I'm just wondering about this particular case.
Only Catholic replies please, because I've already read a lot about the Orthodox side

thanks!
(here's the article from Catholic Encyclopedia, but I don't know the background behind any of the history so I don't really understand much of it, lol..
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15427b.htm if anyone could please simplify the story for me that would be great! I also found this thread
