Book on Church history, recommendations?
I'm looking for a solid book on Church history. I'd like a basic overview on the entire past 2000 years, nothing too in depth. I'm just tired of listening to talks on something that happened sometime in history while having no context to place it in. I checked out the Catholic.com store, and just felt overwhelmed by so many books. I'd like some good "user reviews," if you will. Thanks, in advance. God bless.

Re: Book on Church history, recommendations?
By a lucky coincidence, someone else asked the same question awhile back on the Catholic Answers forums, and people provided some recommmendations then. This is at
http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=503315.
People seemed to most appreciate the history, "Triumph. the Power and Glory of the Catholic Church," by H. W. Crocker. However, people spoke of some other booksthen, and perhaps others here will mention others.

Re: Book on Church history, recommendations?
How about 'The Father's Know Best' by Jimmy Akin advertised at the top of this page in the headline.
Jimmy has written many books and is a great apologist
