Add "Strange Days" to your list.

I'll probably get slammed for this, but I loved Galaxy Quest!

Dune and Blade Runner are on encore from time to time, both huge disappointments to anyone who has read the books.

two I might actually watch if I saw them listed again, French Connection and Bullitt

I would back a Steve McQueen retrospective, any body else on?

Depends on whose radar's you're talking about. Here are three new suggestions:

Ghost in the Shell is great, the makers of The Matrix were influenced by its style. The TV show is also very very good.

Event Horizon is a well done sci-fi horror film, definitely fits the "under-appreciated" criteria.

Serenity is good, but the TV show it was based on was sublime, it really is a shame it didn't continue.

I also agree with some previous posters about "The Fifth Element," "Dune," and "Blade Runner"

I'll second Big Trouble in Little China.

Stardust *surely* must be in that list somewhere...

Gattaca, great cast: Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Jude Law, Gore Vidal, Alan Arkin, Elias Koteas. A sci-fi film from 1997, about a not-so-distant future where the world has in turn become so preoccupied with perfection they have turned towards eugenics and immoral liberal use of genetic manipulation to create a perfect cadre of human beings. The main character, Ethan Hawke's Vincent Freeman is an 'inferior' man in a world where inferiority denies you everything. Going through a process of attempting to gain entry into the world of those who are genetically superior to travel into space. The main themes of the movie, the triumph of the human spirit. It is a beautiful movie, well made and well done.
