Email notification of new posts: takes me to random page!
For the past few days, when I click on the link provided by email for subscribed threads, rather than taking me to the newest unread post, I am linked to a random page in the thread.
Anyone else having this problem?
How to solve?

I don't have that exact problem, but it sounds similar to my problem of the little newest unread post arrow not working. I'm not much help though as I have found a fix.

Re: Email notification of new posts: takes me to random page!
Only a few days? It's been WEEKS for me. Deleting my cookies did not help. I am told that this problem is because the search indexes are corrupted, and need to be rebuilt on the server side. I expected the problem to clear up again shortly but I have been dealing with it for a long time. It is really time-consuming to catch up on threads, because I always get thrust into old material rather than just being able to read what's new. Frustrating!

sorry, meant have NOT found a fix.
I've tried deleting cookies and signing out and back in. Someone suggested deleting search history, but I use that all the time and don't want to try it.
What someone else said about it being on the server side of things makes sense as I have the same problem when I access CAF on my phone.
I do really wish they would fix it though. Short, slow moving threads are a bit annoying, but not too bad. For long, fast threads it is pretty much impossible to keep up without missing something. You either spend half the time rereading stuff you've read or you miss out on a bunch of posts in the middle.

Hmmm, I did not try deleting the search histories. I am not really sure what to advise. I am just thankful that the problem has not resurfaced again. It would make forum work very very slow for me.
Maybe the server will be fixed, but I think it would entail taking down the serach functions for several days.
God bless.

Having the same problem every time I visit the site. I can't find my place in a long thread anymore.

Bump. This is still happening to random threads! What's it been, a month or two now? Please rectify this problem, it makes me waste a LOT of time trying to read this forum.

Re: Email notification of new posts: takes me to random page!
I'm still being sent to incorrect posts. Usually it only takes a page or two to catch up, but it is a problem.
I presume that CAF has a computer geek or two that can solve this.
Who's the patron saint of computer geeks?

Re: Email notification of new posts: takes me to random page!
It's getting worse!
The latest email link that I received said that it was an invalid thread and that I was to inform the administrator.
I tried to do that. Twice.
Each time I received this:

No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

The link to the administrator ain't even working!!
Saint Isidore, ora pro nobis.

I have had the problem for months.
I also have a problem of fonts changing size and style willy nilly when I am trying to reply on a thread. When lines go through the type, it is nearly impossible to post. From the feedback I am getting from the techs, it could be my computer but I still don't understand how to fix it on CAF. Since the problem goes away when I try to copy it or when I submit reply, I guess I can live with it. But it does cut down on my posting because I am spending so much time dealing with it.

Re: Email notification of new posts: takes me to random page!
I get this problem when I click the little arrow that is for going to the first new post. It is driving me nuts on the longer threads. It takes real time to figure out where to start reading. The forum seems to be stuck thinking I haven't visited and read posts, even though I have. It puts me to about two visits ago, but it seems random.
Please fix! It has been going on for a long time, weeks, at least. This feature always worked before. Something has happened to break it.
It is so easy to accidentally miss a response that someone has made to me with this problem going on. This can cause communication difficulties, not just irritation.
