'Iran ready to wipe Israel off the map'
Tehran's deputy defense minister warns Jerusalem against strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, says 'any action by Zionist regime will bring about its destruction'
Speaking at a ceremony honoring past Hezbollah commanders, Vahidi said that "Israel is weaker than it has ever been and its army is tired and humiliated… This is why it is trying to solve its problems by talking about taking action against Iran. But these are ridiculous statements.
"Iran's warriors are ready and willing to wipe Israel off the map," he declared.

Just remember, God is in control of the whole situation-always pray without ceasing-God may be using Iran and Syria and other hostile nations as part of His ultimate plan in biblical prophec y.

    Ridiculous and disturbing.
Anyway, you all may or may not be aware that there is a country in the Middle East that already has nuclear weapons and has been threatening, invading and killing its neighbors (in addition to ethnically cleansing the natives and continuing to treat them as if they are not worthy of life or land) for decades. Can you guess what country that is?

I'm fairly certain Iran wishes to wipe Israel off the map as soon as the former has the nuclear capability to devise a military strategy. A preemptive air strike by Israel would make that wish more difficult to activate, but I have no doubt there would be repercussions by Iran against Israel and possibly the US.

Iran hates the US---we definitely need to keep standing with Israel---God still has plans for Israel in His prophetic plan. I think that God will maybe use the US as well.

Has anything really changed in this respect in the last 50 years?

Not really, but as long as they are crying wolf, we'll be on the hook.

Let's define "crying wolf" shall we. On the day Israel declared independence it was attacked by five arab armies. Arabs continued a campaign of attack against the nation after the ceasefire. Over 800,000 Jews were kicked out of Arab countries by 1952 (where's the call for the right of return or compensation for their land?) In 1957 Egypt tried to strangle Israel economically causing war. In 1967 Israel got in the first lick hours before the Arabs were set to launch yet another attack. In 1973 the Arabs got the first lick in because the Israelis were afraid of world opinion from another pre-emptive strike. All strikes by Israel against Arabs have been a matter not only of self-defense but quite often mere survival. If that's "crying wolf" it's because the wolves have been at the door since day one.

Let's fix this.
In the late 19th century, some Europeans decided they would create a Jewish homeland/state in a land that was around 97% Arab Christian and Muslim. They got the British who had no right to give away land that didn't belong to them to get behind the idea and began importing lots of Europeans into the Arab land. In 1948 Israel declared independence after flooding the country with European immigrants (though they still had nowhere near a majority) and after a couple of decades of terror campaigns against the natives (bus, market, and hotel bombs). Some poorly armed and organized Arab armies who had no chance against the better equipped Europeans invaded the country and were pretty easily defeated. Prior to this declaration of independence and after, many natives fled the violence or were driven out of their villages and weren't allowed to return to their homes afterward because they were Christians and Muslims. For some reason, those natives are still pretty upset that their land was stolen and they have NOTHING to do with the crimes committed by other Arab countries against their Jewish populations.

Yes, let's fix this. The land that the zionist occupied in the late 19th century was bought and paid for, not taken. And let's not forget the Jewish population that had already been there from the time of Moses. Also, let's not forget that at the same time Jews were migrating to what became Israel so too were Arabs. In fact Arab migration was higher than Jewish migration. After WWI with the British LEGALLY in charge of Palestine the Jews began to set up a quasi-government because the Brits said they could. The Brits also created several Arab countries from territory it took from the Ottomans, who were also non-Arabs, that controled the area before WWI. Jewish acts of terrror were a response to the exact same type of attacks you mentioned by Arabs. Yep, there were acts of terror on both sides. The first major act of violence, the 1920 riots...was started by Arabs aimed at Jews in the Old City who had been there for centuries. From there the violence escalated. Some of the worst actors weren't even "Palestinians" if such a people exist. Arafat was EGYPTIAN. During the war of independence many Arabs fled because their Arab overlords told them to. The Arab armies were much more well armed than the Jews...no "Europeans armies" took part. That the Jews were better motivated and better fighters was because they fought for survival. You have a warped view of the history of the middle east that isn't supported by history.

Define it however you wish. It's time to stop babying Israel, put our taxpayer money here Irans mouth is and destroy them, get it over with already. I'm sick and tired of working to pay for the rest of the worlds problems.

Well, yes.
50 years ago Iran was not hostile to Israel. In fact, the two countries had a relatively warm relationship. That changed 30 years ago with the Iranian revolution which installed the current theocratic government of Iran. However, Israel supplied a significant amount of arms to Iran during that country's war with Iraq in the 1980s, so Iran must have been seen as a lesser threat. And Iran was happy to cooperate.
Iran's funding of the anti-Israel Hezbollah didn't really take off until the 1990s. Israel's threats to launch a preemptive attack on Iran didn't begin until 8-10 years ago.
A lot has changed during the past 50 years.

Because of course, they are "God's chosen nations".
I thought we left that thinking behind in the 16th century. Ah well. Perhaps Israel is doing God's will by stealing land from the Palestines, breaking EU and UN law despite warnings?
Sorry, folks - national elitism really irritates me.
