Confirmation name
Hi. I thought I would start a thread where everyone tells each other what their Confirmation is/was, and why they picked the name. I will go first.
My Confirmation name is Christopher. I mainly picked it because it is my dad's middle name. However, I did some research on St. Christopher and liked him a lot! (His life and how he was devoted to God)

Re: Confirmation name
It's going to be Joan, or Jehanne, after Saint Joan of Arc.

Re: Confirmation name
My confirmation name is going to be Pio after Padre Pio. I was born premature and there were a few complications involved in my birth. A friar that my parents knew came to visit me in the hospital nursery. He prayed for me and tucked a piece of Padre Pio's clothing underneath my pillow.
The first baby to be released from the nursery was me.
It was only until after I informed my parents that I was thinking about choosing Padre Pio that I found out about this.
I thank God, Pio and the friar for being there for me.

Re: Confirmation name
My Confirmation name is Veronica. I love the story of how she recognized Jesus as Christ and offered him what comfort she could be wiping his face as he carried the Cross for us all.

Re: Confirmation name
I have 2 patron saints. The first one is St. Elizabeth Ann Seton the first American covert who started the Catholic school system, and I love religious education, but I already have her name. I chose St. Faustina as my confirmation name as I love her devotion to our Lord and would love some of her spiritual gifts. I also love the Divine Mercy painting, chaplet and novena.
The Divine Mercy novena starts today!!!!

Re: Confirmation name
Good morning, all,
I chose Saint Patrick for my patron saint and for my confirmation name because I'm part Irish. It wasn't until later that I learned more about him, that he was a slave first. He's a good patron saint.
God loves all of you, lurkers, too,
Don

Re: Confirmation name
I'll be confirmed this coming May and I'll be choosing St. Paul of the Cross.
Reason being because he had such a devotion to the suffering Christ on the Cross. I've had some recent events in my life that put me through so much suffering and I look upon the Cross to see not only what true suffering is, but done with so much LOVE.
Also, without Christ on the Cross, it's just a form of torture, but with Christ visible on the Cross, it shows the whole world the greatest act of love in history.

Re: Confirmation name
Oo, there's two others! I chose St. Faustina, because she painted the beautiful Divine Mercy. I love her story and I wanted to choose an artistic Saint, since I'm studying to be an artist.

Re: Confirmation name
St. Rafqa, Lebanese Maronite saint. I am Lebanese and my heritage is very important to me. I relate to St. Rafqa because of her devotion. And because of her acceptance of the physical pains he endured -- and, I fact, invited -- so that she could understand the Lord's passion. I live with physical pain that is draining. I have learned, through her example, to see it as a gift and not a burden.
