What does the Eucharist mean to you?
I've always seen it as more of a statement or an event than something living & active (no doubt thanks to my Protestant upbringing). I've come to believe in the Real Presence, but my first communion (Easter Vigil) was kind of a blur! Today I was able to celebrate my 1st full Mass as a Catholic & the Eucharist took on new meaning for me. Its like a light came on inside. Life "flashed before my eyes"- my entire journey of faith, my new "family" (past & present), Jesus' sacrificial love & salvation, even the call to discipleship... All of it was summed up in this moment- like a breath of fresh air. I'd heard the statement "The Eucharist is the source & summit of our faith" many times, but I had no clue it could be like this. I felt revived as from a dark night. I was absolutely brimming with joy when I returned to my seat...
So what does the Eucharist mean to you?

Re: What does the Eucharist mean to you?
I attend Mass seven days a week. While our own parish only has two daily Mass during the week, I travel to other parishes to receive my Lord from holy Mass. Eucharist it the real body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus, and Mass is the highest form of prayer. What else can be better than receiving the Lord into myself during a Mass?

It blows me away that we receive His BODY.
What, after all, is more personal than one's body??
We can't be hugged or held by Him, but we can take His body into our bodies, His Life into our life..........!!!

Re: What does the Eucharist mean to you?
A number of yearsago after my husband had passed away, and all of my children lived and worked very far away from me, I attended a one-day retreat at our local retreat center on the Eucharist. Fr. Ron Rolheiser was the speaker and he was so overwhelmingly profound and sacred regarding the Eucharist that I promised myself I would go to Mass every day. Of course, I've missed some days, but truthfully I feel that Jesus through the Eucharist is with me each and every day and the Eucharist is the only thing that keeps me going.

Congratulations!
I have been legally Catholic for all of 3 months, and I still sometimes think, "I can't wait until I'm Roman Catholic! Any day now!..." and then I remember that I already am.
The Eucharist reminds me of one of my favorite verses, Exodus 24:11b, "They looked on God. They ate and drank." But my food and drink is also God.
It is connected to my favorite mystery, the Incarnation (one reason why I began to head toward Catholicism - I realized that a reverent view of Mary as the Mother of God was necessary to bring out the "full flavor" of the Incarnation. I had been brought up without Mary, except for a blurb at Christmas and occasionally Mother's Day; and even then, she was merely the mother of man.)
It means that I share in the Universal Church. I am connected to Catholics everywhere, from every time period. I have a keener awareness of the persecution of Christians than I had; somehow they seem to be more physically a part of me.
