Default Coincidences

Another thread I just posted on had me looking at older threads about the topic. I'm still interested in the subject, but rather than resurrect the old threads, I thought I'd begin a new one. I'll post some of my own coincidences, though I've posted them before. I'm sure others have had coincidences occur that gave them pause and they might like to share too.

This happened about a year ago, last Easter season.

Is this God's sense of humor showing itself again? Is it just His way to tap us on the shoulder and say "Hi" once in a while? I don't know, but maybe that is part of the answer.

I was talking with my husband in the family room about his new niece, who we will get to meet for the first time on Easter. I commented that she is a little thing compared to the other nieces, nephews and she was the smallest of the babies born on his side of the family that I knew of (his family tends to have big babies). He said that she was about the same weight as our daughter when she was born. I agreed they were close in size, that dear daughter weighed 6:14 at birth while new niece was a bit smaller and weighed 6:11.

Said dear daughter, who is now 15, was in the dining room on her laptop and she could hear us talking. She was watching "Evan Almighty" while posting on a forum. "Evan Almighty" was paused at the scene showing the bible verse Genesis 6:14. Daughter was replying to a poster who had last posted at 6:14 p.m. and yelled at her Dad and me that that was really weird. I was only slightly surprised, because that kind of thing happens to me all the time.

I later walked in the kitchen and looked at the oven clock at 6:14. I called to dear daughter that the time on the oven was 6:14, but the microwave clock said 6:13. As I finished speaking and heard her "That's bizarre" response, the microwave clock went to 6:14 too so that both oven and microwave were at 6:14 for several seconds.

Meaningful? I don't know how. Interesting? I think so.

Years ago, I had to attend a meeting after work in an area I was not familar with. I needed cash and noticed a grocery store as I was driving, so I decided to stop in to write a check for cash. I had a check cashing card for that chain, but I had never been in that particular grocery store before. After the woman in front of me finished up at Customer Service and began to leave, the cashier glanced at my check and asked if I knew the woman who was leaving. The woman heard the cashier and looked back toward Customer Service while I glanced toward her. I had never seen her before in my life and said so. The cashier told us both that we had the same first and last name. We were both fascinated and amazed at the coincidence and had a brief conversation. I was still single at the time, so the last name was my maiden name, while it was her married name. Her husband's first name was the same as my brother's, but I didn't know her or her family at all and I don't think she was related in any way. She lived in the area, while I did not. It was just odd and very memorable to me.

You get the idea, he was hard to miss. My friends and I saw him rather frequently. Then I went to Florida on a vacation. While there, I went to a Disney night spot, and lo and behold, there was the same guy. I had traveled over a thousand miles and so had he and we both happened to end up in the same place at the same time. I actually talked to him in Florida and told him that I saw him back at home all the time and that I was amazed to see him there. I still remember what he answered: "Darlin', I party all over and am in different cities all the time." When I got home from vacation, I then found an article about this unusal guy in a local paper. Weird.

Last week, I was pulling out of the parking lot on my way to adoration. I was pulling out of a parking area I don't use very often, and remembered helping an old neighbor load up a truck, parked in the same spot. I also remembered that I bought an old bicycle from him upon his departure....didn't have any cash on me...told him I'd mail him the money...lost tha address...found the address a long time later, so long that I doubted he still lived there. Hadn't remembered that for over a year. I said "God, please put him in my path, so I can pay him"

THE NEXT DAY I pulled in from errands, and there he was..travelled 120 or so miles out for a motorcycle ride. Was just about to leave when we pulled in.

So, I paid him.

Great thread SwizzleStick,

Love your stories! The one about 6:14 is really cool, and the one about you and the woman with the same name is just ... Wow!

One of mine:

Was on a yacht owned by one of my dad's friends, and was invited to take the steering wheel, which I happily did. However, by doing so, I was too close to the compass. The problem with that? I have a weird electromagnetic field that messes up compasses ... they point the wrong direction in my presence. Like, South when it should be North, or SouthWest just because.

So of course, the yacht went off course.

Good thing. Night was falling on Lake Ontario. Having gone the wrong direction, we ended up coming across a stranded motorboat with several people. Their boat had no working motor, no working radio, and only one oar. Had they been out on the Lake overnight, there was the possibility of them being hit by a freighter in the dark.

So the captain of the yacht threw them a rope, we towed the motorboat back to shore, and everyone lived happily ever after.

Although, I wasn't allowed to steer the yacht after that.

Wow, that is great! Love it! That certainly seems like Divine Providence to me! What else could it have been?! Thank you for sharing!

Coming for a Baptist background and being a baby Catholic I'm still trying, for lack of better words, to come to terms with praying the rosary. I have a couple of times and carry one in my purse. I had a few errands to run the other day to gather some information. One was just out of state and the other was to a place that told the clerk there told me the information I needed was not available. I decided to try back there on my way back. I was on the highway and suddenly felt the urge to pray the rosary with a prayer intention that the information would be readily available. All went well at the 1st place as I had knew it would b/c they had told me that they had what I needed. I went back to the other place, saw someone else and she found what I needed and I was out in less than 5 mins. Coincidence?? I think not.

A little help working behind the scenes, perhaps? In any event, thank you for sharing!

I was on my way in the car with my husband driving me, my teen-aged daughter, and her same age girlfriend in the back. We were on our way to the neighborhood yacht club where my husband's small boat was.

There was a lot of tension in the car, as I couldn't come to grips with my husband's indifference to our daughter. (that is what I perceived was the cause of the tension.) I had my eyes closed as he drove; I was praying and felt terrible. When I opened my eyes briefly the car in front of us had a license plate that said ABA on it. I thought of "Abba" our Father.

Again I closed my eyes briefly and after a minute or so opened them and another car's plate said ALU on it.
I thought of "Alleluia".

For the third time this happened, and when I opened my eyes the car's plate said KING. I knew I had to remember that our Lord Jesus Christ is KING.

That is a reminder for me for all time!
