Default Does GOD hear prayers from sinners

I just came across a part from scripture in Isaiah 1:15

Quote:
From Scripture
When you stretch out your hands I turn my eyes away. You may multiply your prayers, I shall not be listening. Your hands are covered in blood.
Some people have claimed that god does not hear prayers from people who are in mortal sin. Wouldn't this just be from unrepentful sinners rather than from those who do repent.
For example in the passage of scripture in the Pharisee and the Sinner it says

Quote:
From Scripture
9 And to some who trusted in themselves as just, and despised others, he spoke also this parable: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray: the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican. 12 I fast twice in a week: I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O god, be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather that the other: because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.
Doesn't this just mean that it is the unrepentful sinners that God does not hear?

I have always been thought that everyone should pray and that the prayers of sinners are heard as much as another person's prayer.

It says it right after the 9.
Those who claim themselves to be just. Like the pharisee thinking himself righteous and perfect looking down upon others when they are all sinners.

To me, I think God hears our prayer in Mortal Sin as well, because that is when we need his mercy the most. Why would he abondon us when we messed up and are sorrowfull?

Ive read that when we pray for purgatory souls, they recieve graces after we are freed from Mortal Sin in confession.

Someone, please correct me if I am wrong.

If God does not hear prayers from a sinner then how can a sinner ever be saved?

God does hear our prayers, but do we take time to hear His response?

I think you are right it is not the sinner that God doesn't hear; as we are all sinners. But it is the unrepentful sinner whom God does not hear as these are people who chose not to amend their lives. God does hear a repentful sinner in the other hand, as these people accept that they need to change and reject these sins that are being committed. The publican in the parable was a humble and repentful sinner.

These is true. Many people pray to God but I think that many also fail to listen or see the opportunities that God gives us through prayer. Many times people expect an automatic miracle or magic wand type of answer to our prayers. This does happen to some people as miracles do exist, but I think that for the majority of times God gives us an answer throughout opportunities. Let's say we pray to God that we get some financial help as our financial status is up to par. Many times we expect him to give us money in that moment, but he probably gave us an opportunity instead to make this money that we probably didn't see.

I think the same way. A baptist was trying to tell me that God doesn't hear sinners prayers, and I was trying to explain this back to them. And if God doesn't hear a sinners prayer, then how do we repent? It has to start somewhere.

This is my take on this. Before the sacrament of Baptism came into effect, all were living under the pain of death. Yet God listened to the prayers of those who strove to be righteous and just. Then Baptism earsed Original Sin. And Christ died paying the price of our sin weight, so that all may enter Heaven if they accept the Covering of His Blood.

Of course God especially wants to hear the prayers of a person in the state of mortal sin confessing and repenting, desiring to be forgiven. Remember God is in the business of Saving Souls, it is that boss downstairs that discourages devoute prayer. In fact God sends the Graces of Reconcillation to people in the dire straits of mortal sin. Otherwise we surely would be lost. We are dependent on God's Mercy entirely for our Salvation.

He does. Even when I was not Christian but I was an atheist God answered my prayers and revealed which religion I could find Him in. However, my prayers were sincere, I was not trying to test God but I truly wanted to know if He existed.

"Does God hear prayers from sinners?"

No. Absolutely not. Heaven has a noise filter that filters out all prayers from sinful people. Have you never wondered why Heaven is reputed to be a peaceful place? All the noise from prayers from sinful people (i.e. everyone) is blocked out.

In all seriousness, Maria1993 answered it well, I believe. It is the insincere prayers of the unrepentant, willfully blind sinners that God won't answer.

True. If God doesn't hear prayers from sinners, he doesn't hear a single human being. Salvation history is full of sinners whom God heard. While alive, saints were sinners.

That particular passage is referring to Israel, not an individual person. This may be seen if the previous passages are read.

Just a thought.

I would say that He does. We are all sinners after all.
