Default Dud threads

Does anyone else here feel really stupid when they start a thread and no one replies to it? I have posted a lot of threads lately when I think "this is a good one, a lot of people will reply to this." Then I check back, and nothing! Then I see other threads where I think "That one won't get that many replies." Next thing I know, it has the little red envelope! Grr! I wish I had good threads. Watch this one turn into another dud. That would be irony at it's best.

Well, at least you'll get one reply! Don't feel bad, we all start dud threads now and then. At least you're not a thread-killer, right?

Here, I'll sprinkle some Angel Sparkles on this thread:

Yeah me too. I've started lots of duds. I think I just killed a thread the other day and I feel bad becuase my last post was a rant. Really ran em off I guess.

Misery loves company so maybe we could start a Dud Club or something. See how many mundane posts we can make before the mods get bored silly and close us down.

StratusRose,
Yes! & I felt like a dork, but I even "bumped" one of my own threads, just to give it a chance!
I had to reply to this one, though, just to see if we could keep it alive as long as possible.

Well, God bless you, Annunciata! I should withdraw the "wicked ways" comment.

I suffer from a mild depression. Awhile ago, I found that just reading some of the titles of threads on the forum added to this. So, I withdrew for a time from all forums, greatly eliminated TV and reading the news, took more time for reflection and prayer, and, generally, "protected" myself.

Since you are posting on this one, you evidently are not out for the "kill"!

I most certainly am not...I never intended to ever kill a thread...even if it's a DUD and I have started and ended plenty of those... PM me...I don't want to get accused of hijacking too... Just checked you haven't enabled your PM...so meet me here http://forums.catholic.com/showthrea...t=64995&page=3 I'll be waiting!

Seems you are changing your tune now! Perhaps, we all need to keep a closer eye on you. Or, then, maybe not...

What people don't seem to understand about Annunciata, is that is does not seem to be a skill she has to actively work for.

She kills threads by her very nature. It's not about a "will" to see them killed. I don't think she could be effective as she is if she actually "tried" to kill them.

Once I was convinced I was the King of Thread Killers, but Annunciata came in and put me to shame, or at least she has me convinced. I don't know the actual count, but I'm afraid to find out...

One word of advice: if you don't want this thread to die, don't tell Annunciata it can't be done.

There is another, very sinister way to close a thread that I just thought of, but I'm not sure I even dare mention it. OK, I will, but I promise to try not to let myself get caught doing it. Let's just say if a thread (not a dud but a hot one) starts getting too hot and you find it's getting redundant or boring, a good understanding of the personalities of the poster can result in it being killed beyond bumping back to life, and you can come up looking innocent of it all.

You have your 'gems' and you have your 'rocks'. My first few posts were just that 'rocks'!. They didn't move and just settled to the bottom.

After one realized what topics people want to talk about, then you can come up with some 'really interesting' threads.

Alan, I miss the "Ignore this Thread' thread!

We all have our share of duds. What irks me are the individuals who take a thread off-topic after a few replies. If you can't stay on-topic, at least have the courtesy to start your own thread.
