Default Interesting Prophecies by Anne Catherine Emmerich

"I saw again the new and odd-looking Church which they were trying to build. There was nothing holy about it... People were kneading bread in the crypt below... but it would not rise, nor did they receive the body of Our Lord, but only bread. Those who were in error, through no fault of their own, and who piously and ardently longed for the Body of Jesus were spiritually consoled, but not by their communion. Then, my Guide [Jesus] said: 'THIS IS BABEL.' [The Mass in many languages]."

"I saw deplorable things: they were gambling, drinking, and talking in church; they were also courting women. All sorts of abominations were perpetrated there. Priests allowed everything and said Mass with much irreverence. I saw that few of them were still godly, and only a few had sound views on things. I also saw Jews standing under the porch of the Church. All these things caused me much distress."

"The Church is in great danger. We must pray so that the Pope may not leave Rome; countless evils would result if he did. They are now demanding something from him. The Protestant doctrine and that of the schismatic Greeks are to spread everywhere. I now see that in this place (Rome) the (Catholic) Church is being so cleverly undermined, that there hardly remain a hundred or so priests who have not been deceived. They all work for destruction, even the clergy. A great devastation is now near at hand."

"Among the strangest things that I saw, were long processions of bishops. Their thoughts and utterances were made known to me through images issuing from their mouths. Their faults towards religion were shown by external deformities. A few had only a body, with a dark cloud of fog instead of a head. Others had only a head, their bodies and hearts were like thick vapors. Some were lame, others were paralytics; others were asleep or staggering.

"I saw what I believe to be nearly all the bishops of the world, but only a small number were perfectly sound. I also saw the Holy Father ---- God-fearing and prayerful. Nothing left to be desired in his appearance, but he was weakened by old age and by much suffering. His head was lolling from side to side, and it dropped onto his chest as if he were falling asleep. He often fainted and seemed to be dying. But when he was praying, he was often comforted by apparitions from Heaven. Then, his head was erect, but as soon as it dropped again onto his chest, I saw a number of people looking quickly right and left, that is, in the direction of the world.

"Then, I saw that everything that pertained to Protestantism was gradually gaining the upper hand, and the Catholic religion fell into complete decadence. Most priests were lured by the glittering but false knowledge of young school-teachers, and they all contributed to the work of the destruction.

"In those days, Faith will fall very low, and it will be preserved in some places only, in a few cottages and in a few families which God has protected from disasters and wars."

"I see many excommunicated ecclesiastics who do not seem to be concerned about it, nor even aware of it. Yet, they are (ispso facto) excommunicated whenever they cooperate [sic] enterprises, enter into associations, and embrace opinions on which an anathema has been cast. It can be seen thereby that God ratifies the decrees, orders, and interdictions issued by the Head of the Church, and that He keeps them in force even though men show no concern for them, reject them, or laugh them to scorn."

Any thoughts?

Her description of the pope, which is quite positive, seems eerily similar to John Paul the Great.

I am not an expert on the church or history, but the time of Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich was a time when the Church was threatened by revolution in Europe and liberalism. Simultaneously, there was revolution in the Papal States ("we must pray that the pope will not leave Rome") and conflict between those who supported the rights of the Pope (the so called 'ultramontanists') and those who wished a local form of governance. In my opinion these visions could well apply to these times. The vision of the Pope, although bearing as you said, a close resemblance to our late Holy Father, could also well apply to any of the Popes from that time who were faced with all these issues.

I feel that such statements are often resurrected and twisted (or perhaps their opinioned beliefs MAKE them interpret it this way) by those who oppose the normative mass, as evidence of the "abomination" of Vatican II. (Not that I'm implying you Jayson, )

But if her prophecies/revelations were genuine, and of God, they would be truth...no? And if truth, aren't they truth for all time, irrespective of political climate, geography, etc? Isn't it a bit relativist to say otherwise?

Does anybody know if her prophecies (not visions of the Passion, or the life of Mary) are considered "worthy of belief" by the Church?

I sure hope the church did not endorse this one but if she has, oh well. I sure don't think I will be racing out to buy this book or read her prophecies anytime soon if ever. No offense to those who love this kind of thing.

What is the Church's position on Our Lady of LaSalette? I think she prophecied something like "Rome will lose the faith, and become the seat of the antichrist"

I don't know anything about her either, and again I won't be getting a book on her anytime soon either. I am just not into this element of catholic stuff but, won't let myself judge anyone who is.
If they find it helpful and the church approves well, I say let them have it. I don't want it though.

**I also saw Jews standing under the porch of the Church. All these things caused me much distress."**

And this would be wrong because . . . ???

One of her "revelations" is that the Apostolic Church kept the imaginary feast of the First Communion of the Virgin.

There is no evidence for such an observance in ANY of the pre-reformation Churches.

## Is there any dafter than the feast of Barlaam & Joasaph (AKA Buddha, in a Christan romance long attrributed to St.John of Damascus) ?

Give me documents that support that this lady is Mary approved by the church, and I will still not let it be a problem for me and still ignore her.

Let's back up a minute...do you believe that Our Lady of Fatima, or Our Lady of Lourdes is the Blessed Virgin Mary?

Our Lady of La Salette is an approved apparition.

NO!!!

This was supposed to be the "3rd" or "secret" prophecy of LaSalette. It came from a booklet published in Paris supposedly by one of the seers some twenty years after the apparition. It has since been shown that this booklet was false, that no such secret prophecy exists; however, the booklet was cited by a few authors before it was proven to be false, so the legend lingers on.
