Can we tithe to other Catholic organizations instead of our parish?
If my parish is meeting its operating expenses, all of its ministries are self-sufficient and it has no urgent needs (does not need a new organ, new heater, new AC, rectory is fine, etc.), then we would like to give only a small amount to the parish and then more to other Catholic apostolates/organizations according to our means. Our pastor only wishes to have extra funds should emergencies arise, and pay an extra mortgage payment once a year or more, so is this plan OK?
