"Rita Victim" - comes home!!!!
I was one of those million people you don't see in the news that were displaced by the hurricane Rita. I returned to my house the day after the storm, but we have yet to receive electricity (it's been two weeks, already). They say we'll probably wait another 2-3 weeks before our community gets power.
This weekend, though, I was able to attend the mass at our little church in Sour Lake (Yes, the name of my town is "Sour Lake"). It was the first time that I felt that I was truly HOME for 1-1/2 weeks!!! Now I've finally found a parish near my office, that is going to begin daily masses tomorrow, even if its just me and the priest!!!!! I can not wait to return and celebrate our daily mass, again!!!!
Thanks for listening (or, uhhh, reading).

Bless you, glad that you are safe and I hope you did not have a lot of property loss. You and all the victims are in my prayers.

Re: "Rita Victim" - comes home!!!!
Worthy: My thoughts and prayers are with you from here in Baton Rouge. We were fortunate here in more ways than one. I bought a generator 4 years ago and it saw its first use during Katrina and then again during Rita. Eleven days w/o power during Andrew in 92................ but, as they say:
There's no place like home!

Re: "Rita Victim" - comes home!!!!
When I said I was "home", I meant I was able to make it to Mass, my spiritual home! I got to go to daily Mass last week, too, and there were just three people that could make it. I realized that, even with just three of us there, everyone who attended did so because they had a burning desire to be with the Lord! I can't say that during the Sunday Service.
As far as my house/home is concerned, we're still without power, but that's OK. I just wanted to express my joy at being able to attend Mass again!

NotWorthy:
I think I know what you say by being at Daily Mass. The Priest knows that, even though he can't spend as much time as during the Sunday Mass, that he has to really "Pray the Mass", because that's what you're doing.
I belong to a small parish were I'm sometimes the only other person there. The part at the beginning of a "Low Mass" is a dialogue between the Priest and the congregation, and those parts sound almost like two guys talking to and praying for each other when Father and I are the only 2 people there.
I'm glad this made so much of the other stuff bearable for you.
May God richly bless you, and may the Archangel Michael protect you during these trying days ahead.
In Christ, Michael

Re: "Rita Victim" - comes home!!!!
When 2 or 3 are gathered in My Name....
There are many times during the weekday that it's just the priest and myself.
Just as long you're spiritually 'home' you are meeting 'heaven on earth' and visa versa.
You begin to appreciate a lot more for the Mass and the Eucharist!

Re: "Rita Victim" - comes home!!!!
I'm sorry, but power is still out at my house, although I hope to get it back by this weekend. I can only jump on and off at work every once in a while, so I apologize for the lapses.
To all of your responses, I can only reply,
Amen!!!!!!
God Bless,
Notworthy
