There's no such thing as French feta...it all disappeared like ten years ago.  In the European Union only Greece produces cheese that can be called feta. Feta-type cheese made elsewhere in the EU has to be called something else. But I think I know what you're talking about.

Did they do a protected origin on feta? The French feta I buy is imported, and it's made from sheep's milk. It's a bit less salty, and slightly creamier than ordinary feta.
Never tried it, but would if given the chance. Sounds yum

Dunno...maybe they can use the name if it's for export outside the EU as long as it's clear it's not Greek. All I can tell you is that I can't get it here anymore, nor have I seen it in any other EU member state.
