surfinpure:
One forum I posted on developed the tradition of saying "Good MANE (Morning, Afternoon, Evening)" when people logged on, even if they didn't join the conversation.
The subject was the ME in General and the Arab-Israeli Conflict in specific. As long as the posters kept to the practice of doing this (and of saying "Shalom"/"Selam"/Peace") when they logged-off, the conversation was generally civil and the discussions usually weren't nearly as circular as most ME discussions are. Not only that, but the posters listened to each other and seemed to care about each other.
Some of them went to the Kotel a few times with my prayer requests, and one of them even brought me back to the Church (He was an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi).
As the posters stopped doing that, the tone became far less civil, and the arguments more circular, until people just stopped listening to each other and caring about each other.
The difference was dramatic as the forum went from as place for reasoned and impassioned discussion into a place were people just beat each other up.
The people who've read my posts know where the forum was.
I don't know if we want to do that all of the time here, but I do think that it might help on the Threads where posters are beginning to act uncharitably towards each other. Just having to say "hello" and "goodbye" to each other can slow us down and help us to listen a little more...
At least that's what I would hope that it would do.
In Christ, Michael

Re: Forum Etiquette - Share Your Wisdom
I AM
the
Armor of GOD
Remember who's Armor you wear!!!
I AM
This Armor is Spiritual,
& the spirit sees it & runs!!!
Put on the whole Armor of God
EVERY waking moment
as you are naked & getting dressed.
Always be prepared
for your enemy is a spirit
& roams like a lion
waiting in the brush to devour you & your loved ones.
Always be on guard...less you fall.
This Armor of GOD
is powerful
because or GOD is powerful!
Be prepared in & out of season
like David,
ready to tear open the lion's jaw with your bare hands
as it plans it's attack on you & your sheep.
Wear your HELMET OF SALVATION
to protect your mind from the enemy...
for this is the head, & CHRIST is the head...
this is where our battle is...in the mind...
your temples on the sides of your head
represent doorways
into the temple where CHRIST dwells...
this is where the enemy tries to enter in all people!
Take every thought captive to the obediance of Christ.
Pray for clarity, purity, & truth as you put His helmet on.
Put on the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
This protects our front & back as it wraps around our heart.
Our hearts represent soil...
This protects our hearts from becoming hard, cold, and bitter.
The seeds of God are thrown here...
but if one is not protecting thier hearts
the birds of the air can swoop down & swipe your seed...
Pray against it!!!
The enemy also will plant weeds amongest your crop
if you aren't protecting your soil
WEAR your BREASTPLATE at ALL times!!!
Gird your waist with the BELT OF TRUTH
may you always wear this
for it balances all parts of the body out...
for CHRIST JESUS is
the truth, & may you always know the truth...
one must ask for this tightening of the BELT
to have Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding
& Discerment to what the truth is...
JESUS CHRIST!!!
HE will reveal & speak to you...
you will hear the still small voice
& be able to feel the truth in your gut.
Put the SHOES OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE
upon your feet...
this is the good news
of JESUS CHRIST.
As this is our LORD'S shoes
& as HE crushed the enemy's head with HIS heal...
so might you...for these weapons are not carnal...
they pull down strongholds
so we the SAINTS of GOD
might crush them and trample them underfoot.
(WE HAVE CAPTAIN CRUNCH ON OUR SIDE) ; )
take up HIS SHEILD OF FAITH
May this sheild since it is HIS
come down from Heaven
& engulf you like the walls of the
NEW JERUSALEM
for one's faith only comes
from the ONE who sits on the throne.
And HE alone is worthy to have faith in.
HE is your front & rear guard...
your Sheild of Faith.
Now always be prepared to give testimony.
It tastes as sweet as honey
upon your lips...
it is the DOUBLE EDGED SWORD OF GOD
It drips with HIS BLOOD!!!
It peirces hard hearts so thier soil may soften.
Aim always with LOVE,
for HE is LOVE.
And HE
bears all things....
(CROSS OF CHRIST IS LOVE)
think of what real LOVE is.
This is the Greatest of Gifts.
One must use it wisely.
Be gentle and percise
when aiming at ones heart.
LOVE has always resembled Hearts.
LOVE is wisdom.
With LOVE ALL things are possible...
for GOD IS LOVE.
This can damage His children
& hurt them deep inside if you are not gentle.
Be as gentle as a DOVE...
Love your neighbor as your self...
Grasp hold of this truth...
We ALL ... are not our own...
"This is HIS BODY...
This is HIS BLOOD..."
If you can fully grasp what that means...
you'll see your lack of LOVE and learn to lean
upon HE who IS THE WORD OF GOD....
This DOUBLE EDGED SWORD...
IMMANUEL...
CHRIST WITH US.
GOD BLESS YOU!!!

I don't know why you'd want to know if someone came back after an absence!

Re: Forum Etiquette - Share Your Wisdom
I agree with the original tips, and I am new to the board.
to answer the last ? "what is a flame"
I Believe it could be defined as what comes out of a very HOT head. Angry words in answer to a real or perceived injustice.
So never answer in anger, cool off first then if you must, answer with love.
I haven't yet figured out a tag line, but I will.

I'm not sure that that is what everyone means. I have been accused of flames on a "hot" topic and I didn't write anything out of anger. I did disagree with that particular poster though and, boy, did she let me have it! Later, we became more friendly on another topic close to both of our hearts.
