DD suggests a "Little Women" marathon with the katherine hepburn version, the June Allyson Version, and the Winona Ryder version. She and her friends used to act out Little Women, just like me and my friends did at that age.

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
"Return to Me" is a good one. I also second "The Princess Diaries" , "Freaky Friday" with Jodie Foster, "The Sound of Music", "The Parent Trap" with Hayley Mills (can you tell I love those older Disney movies)...oh! I just recently rented "While You Were Sleeping" (starring Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman, who were adorable). That movie was so clean it could be shown on TV completely uncut, and it's so cute. Good, clean love story.
Um..."Little Women", maybe "Sense and Sensibility", definitely "Anne of Green Gables"...just stay away from trashy movies like "Sleepover".

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
What about The Princess Bride? Is there anything inappropriate in that? I just remember it being a really funny movie.
Now that I think about it, I think they use Jesus' name inappropriately once.

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
This reply might sound strange coming from a 20-something guy, but I would Suggest the Disney Movie "CandleShoe."
Here's the IMDb page http://imdb.com/title/tt0075807/.
Here's the USCCB page http://www.usccb.org/movies/c/candleshoe.shtml.
All in all, an excellent film.
Yours in Christ,

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
Ever After, an adaptation of Cinderella, starring Drew Barrymore. This Cinderella is assertive, self-sufficiant, kind and smart. There were a number of Catholic references: Danielle's favorite book is Utopia by St Thomas More, the Prince takes Danielle to a Franciscan Monastary (on what one could consider a date), Danielle, fights for the rights of the opressed (meaning she was more of a social justice Catholic), and the Princes parents, the King and Queen of France, make a comment that divorce is something only the English do making a sly reference to Henry VIII. Danielle defends her chastity (sort of) in a very skilled way and Leonardo da Vinci makes an appearance (and he makes no mention of the code; he seems like a pretty creative guy with some common sense. Some of these refernces may go over their heads but Catholicism is never disparaged (and it could easily have been) and sprinkled throughout.
Danielle and the Prince are not devout and the Prince was being forced into an arranged marriage (which would have made in null and void in the church) oh, and the wedding seemed to have a lot of guests who were clergy.
Not a giggle a minute but more of a romantic comedy.

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
Ever After I liked, and I'm a dude. Labyrinth is great, too, though David Bowie never heard of a dance belt, and he wears tights. *shudder* Also good are Muppet movies, especially Caper, Treasure Island, and Christmas Carol.
Have you ever seen Hayao Miyazaki? Princess Mononoke's pretty bloody (being sort of Lord-of-the-Rings-esque), but Spirited Away is good and kid-friendly, and so's My Neighbor Totoro (when the Japanese do cute, as when they do weird, they do not fool around).
Word of warning, though: Miyazaki- sensei is as unabashedly Shinto as Lewis was Christian, so his stories are rife with pagan gods, and the Shinto ideas of purity and "fitting in" to the world, both the natural and the human. Personally I like that a man's faith should inform his work, whether it be faith in the Triune God or the Eight Million Gods (yes that's really their title), but it could require a little "parental guidance."

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
I'll also say Trouble with Angels. I'm 21 and I love the movie. Also Princess Bride or Cinderella Story are good.
You might also try the new Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly. I prefer the tv version, but it's way too long, so this version is my second choice. another cute Keira Knightly movie you might want to check out is Bend it like Beckham. Very good movie (I love it because of the soccer).
She's the man is cute, but you should probebly pass judgement on it first, depending on how old the girls are.
The Pink Panther movies are always a good choice.

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
Michael Landon's son just did those 3 movies for Hallmark that were really good and my 10-13 year olds LOVE them.
Love Comes Softly
Love's Enduring Promise
Love's Long Journey
I saw at least the first 2 for sale at Wal-Mart and the 3rd we rented at Blockbuster because I missed it on the Hallmark channel.

Re: Good Movie for 10-13 year old sleepover.
My children love the Disney movie "High School Musical". It doesn't have any religious content, but it is a very clean, entertaining movie that would be perfect for that age group. It also teaches a good lesson: Be yourself regardless of what your friends expect you to be.

Did anyone mention Disney's "Ice Princess"? Even my 12-year-old son liked it!
