Anti-christ critics
I wrote a short essay on the Anti-christ and the papacy. I was wondering if ya'll would look over it and give me a bit of a critique? You know, is this logic wrong, should I expound on this a little more, or add this to it. I would be rather gratefull. Thanks and God bless.
Quote:
Papacy and the Antichrist
One thing that you brought up was the Papacy as the Anti-Christ, because as you said, She sits on Seven hills and drinks the blood of the saints as said in Revelation.
There is a slight problem with this. The Vatican, where the Pope Resides is not part of Rome. “The Seven Hills of Rome east of the Tiber form the heart of Rome They figure prominently into Roman mythology, religion, and politics; the original city was held by tradition to have been founded by Romulus on the Palatine Hill (Collis Palatinus). The other six of the Seven Hills of Rome are the Aventine Hill (Collis Aventinus), the Capitoline Hill (Collis Capitolinus), the Quirinal Hill (Collis Quirinalis), the Viminal Hill (Collis Viminalis), the Esquiline Hill (Collis Esquilinus), and the Caelian Hill (Collis Caelius). The now-famous Vatican Hill (Collis Vaticanus) is west of the Tiber and is not one of the Seven Hills of Rome.”1 By sheer fact of Georaphy, The Papacy or the Catholic Church could not be the Anti-Christ.
With the drinking of the blood of the Saints, You stated 100 Million. This is abhorredly inaccurate. The Inquisition which was the Churchs’ most notable instrument of death did not kill a fraction of that. Dr. Qwinn, a history professor at Lamar who specializes in that time frame, upon asking him told me that it was at about 10,000. Thousand, not million, ten million or anywhere close to number in which the rest could be picked up at different times. Ten Thousand. And lets not forget the fact that the Lutherans in Germany, Calvinists in Switzerland, Anglicans in England, Puritans in America, as well as other protestants throughout history have killed other people and with equally torturous devices.
Furthermore, Scripture tells us that the Catholic Church can’t be the Anti-Christ. 1 John 2:22: "Who is a liar, but he who denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denieth the Father and the Son."
The Catholic Church has never in its history denied the Trinity so John, an apostle of Christ, tells us that the Catholic Church can’t possibly be the Anti-Christ.
Mark 3:23-26 And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan be risen up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end.
In this Christ tells us that the satanic cannot cast out demons and to claim that an exorcism was done so would be blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Now the Catholic Church has a long history of performing (and how to perform) an exorcism so to claim that The Catholic Church is the Anti-Christ is unbiblical.
