Am I being naive about convalidation?
My husand was raised Anglican but prides himself in being a heathen and I was raised a Jehovah's Witness. As a result. we had a Civil ceremony. Four years ago I became Catholic and I asked my Parish Priest if I was really married and his answer was not in the eyes of the Church but a marriage exists. I have thought about convalidation as if I received marriage as a sacrament I feel truely married and I thought it may bring more peace to my marriage as we have experienced a lot of difficulty recently. Therefore, I need to know if I am I being naive about convalidation bringing peace to my marriage and wanting to convalidate for the wrong reasons and is it necessary in my situation? I also don't believe my husband would agree to convalidation as I think it involves some form of formal ceremony.
