Default gave to the needy instead of to the church?

But actually it's, in a way at least, the same, right...

Anyway I inherited some money (not millions, but a good few thousand) earlier this year and I wanted to tithe and I donated some money to a church collection for the needy and other orgenisations, and it wasn't 10% yet and I intened to give some to the parish I go to in the US when I get back there.

But now I have met other needy people and for example last week gave a woman womeny for her rent, I just gave her the benefit of the doubt... now I think I have given away wayyy more than 10% already, handing out money here and there it seems... and have to start looking again that I have enough for myself (I had pretty much nothing before and haven't had a stable income in years, living mostly on street music. Now I have been offered a job but it's not full time).
How bound am I still by my intention to give money to the chruch I go to in the US?

Kathrin

I did give a lot to the needy.
I am just wondering if I am still obliged to give something to the parish I go to in the US too, since that was my original intention, but meanwhile I have given so much to the needy I ahve to start watching it....

Kathrin, You are NOT bound by an "intention" to give money to the church in the US. If you have given away all that you can reasonably give and must now be sure you yourself have enough to live on, then please do not give any more away and do not feel any "guilt" over this.

You have stated before you have scrupulosity. This is another manifestation of that. Please seek counsel from your spiritual director.

I'll second that opinion.
