Favorite sayings like "a few bricks shy of a load"?
What are your favorites? Here are some of mine:
A few french fries short of a Happy Meal
A few straws short of a bale
A couple of bales short of a stack
Not the sharpest knife in the drawer
... Yours?

My favorite sayings are...
A can short of a 6 pack.
The lights are on but nobody's home.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Never used it but have heard it... Fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.
Or couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel.

Re: Favorite sayings like "a few bricks shy of a load"?
some of my moms favs
When you couldn't find something...
"You couldn't find a bend in a pretzel with a blueprint"
"If it were a snake, it would've bit ya"
"It's not going to shout, HERE I AM JULIANNA!"
"You couldn't find a pig in a poke" (a poke is a bag)
Someone who had buck teeth
"He could bite a watermelon through a fence and never touch his lips"
When she would get really mad...
"I'm gonna tan yer hide and throw it over a fence"
"Use your brains that the good Lord gave you"
Mom has a lot of sayings...but I think the mods would object.
And...no....I wasn't emotionally scarred.
Back in high school when acne was a problem
"He/she looks like their face caught on fire and someone put it out with an ice pick."

Re: Favorite sayings like "a few bricks shy of a load"?
"not the brightest bulb in the chandelier"
"the wheel is turning but the hamster is dead"
"use your head for something other than a hat rack"
"twelve donuts short of a dozen"
"if he was any dumber, you'd have to water him twice a week"
"brilliant as a burned out bulb"
"did your mother have any children that lived?" (credit the movie "Stand By Me")
"you could write what he knows about (insert subject) on the head of a pin and still have room for the Declaration of Independence!"
I'm sure I'll come up with more.....

Re: Favorite sayings like "a few bricks shy of a load"?
The ones some Catholic friends and I use that's almost talking in code because most people can't understand the jargon:
"A few beads short of a decade"
"S/He's a Protestant Bible" (missing some books!)
"The incense is there, but there's no charcoal"
