Frank Herbert - Dune series
Raymond E Feist - Faerie Tale Homer - The Iliad Robert Loius Stevenson - Treasure Island H.G. Wells - Time Machine Robert Harris - Pompeii John Scalzi - Old Mans War, Ghost Brigades, Zoe's Tale, the Sagan Diaries I would put J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis on this list, but they are in my opinion overrated and could have made their universes less symbolic and much more real and believable. My opinion though, I know I am treading on dangerous territory critisizing such names. I rather am critical of Harry Potter, I believe it is an exploitation on Catholicism twisted around, the lines of good and evil are very blurrred through out the series and it seems to serve to no purpose but the destruction of Voldemort, there seems to be no remorse or forgivness mentioned.

Huh, I almost bought a book written by Jane Austen! (Actually it was 6 books in one).
Instead of buying that one though, I bought a huge book, which included the Imitation of Christ, by Thomas a Kempe, The Interior Castle, by St. Teresa of Avila, and Dark Knight of the Soul, by St. John of the Cross. Ironically, they are three books I've been wanting to read for a long time, and it just so happen they were all together! |
