Banned IP address?
As I was posting to a forum thread and hit the "submit" button, I got a message that said the administrator banned my IP address. It gave the option of contacting the administrator but when I tried, it gave me the page that said the administrator banned my IP address.
I had to reboot the computer and hope my router changed the IP address, which it evidently did, as I'm posting here now.
Anyone have any ideas why this happened?
Admin? I sent in an email through the main Catholic.com page as well.
Thanks and God Bless,
Snert

Banned for a while?
I just had the stangest thing. I tried to sign on it showed I was banned. I thought for a moment that my IP had gotten confused with a nasty spammer who was posting bad images. Now it is working again. I know I reported the poster and in my haste I contacted the only admistrator online, even though it was another forum. Surely in an extreme case this is allowed. Right?
Or was this misunderstanding a bug?

Re: Banned IP address?
I think there was some kind of glitch, because I just got the same message, but I waited 10 minutes, and then the forum worked again.

Banned IP Address
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I logged out for a few hours and then tried to get back on. But I couldn't. There was a message that said that my IP Address had been banned. So I sent a message to the Forum Admin and only after it did was I able to get on the forums. I really thought I was banned.

Re: Banned for a while?
Nope, it just happened to me too. I was responding to a thread when it popped up and said I was banned. I couldn't even contact an admin. So I had to reboot.

Error in handling some IPs bannings.
Fixed and should not occur again.
My apologies for any inconvenience or concern.

Oh my gosh, I just got the same thing! I sent a note to the admin, but looks like everything is ok now. It must be a glitch, I would think.

Re: Banned for a while?
Me too. Must've been a lot of shooting from that spam attack thread.
There is a vbulletin feature which can delete and ban a whole thread. I suspect that's what happened, although I didn't post in the thread... unless someone accidently deleted/IP banned the reported post thread... which has happened in another forum I moderate...

Re: Banned for a while?
I think it had something to do with a person who seems to me to have created multiple accounts here on the forums and had written very vulgar things. There were pages of responses that replied in kind. I knew that we didn't have that many people here who would respond like that so I figured the same person just responded to his own posts.
Perhaps they did something or the admin just banned everyone while they worked on the problem?

Re: Banned for a while?
Me too! But here I am back again. I already sent a message to the administrator, though, so I can't take it back, even though it appears to be fixed now.
I partly burnt my dinner I was so astonished.

No problem, we needed that spammer gone, so any inconvenience it caused was worth it.
Thanks and keep up the good work!

Thank you for not banning me. I'm back up too. I thought I broke a rule.
