Adopt a Cardinal
This is not an idea original with me, but why not start another 'adoption ring' here?
The idea is that each person who wants to participate would "adopt" one specific Cardinal to pray for on a daily basis at least until we have a new Pope (certainly don't have to stop then, but that's the minimal commitment). If the response is really good (more than the number of voting Cardinals), Cardinals can be 'adopted' more than once.
If you would like to participate, just post in this thread. If you have additional family members who don't post here, you can give a head-count of those that would be participating from your home.
I'll PM names on Monday (the 11th).

Re: Adopt a Cardinal
Count me in Melissa. As I mentioned before, my kids have this at school and I want to join in too!
In the unlikely event that we don't have enought CAFers to go around, you can give me two.

Re: Adopt a Cardinal
I will do my part and seeing that I am a Byzantine Catholic I will take on of the eastern catholic cardinals.
Will you assign the cardinals or do we just pick?

Re: Adopt a Cardinal
OK--I'll try to match an eastern cardinal ByzCath.
If there's some particular Cardinal that one person wants to adopt, I'll try to honor that, but it's first-come until all the Cardinals have been adopted.
I'd just like to clarify, though, that this is prayer for the Cardinals, it's not related to which one would be the best Pope, but that as a body they will find the best Pope, even if it's a really young man (like Cardinal Erdö of Hungary, who's the youngest of them all in his early 50s) and it goes completely against conventional wisdom.

Our prayer group has started the "Adopt a Cardinal" prayer cicle already. Count me as doing so.
Here is our list to choose from link:

* indicates a voting Cardinal to choose on the list.

Re: Adopt a Cardinal
btw...I adopted Cardinal Law. He is on my prayer list anyway, and I wanted to make sure that he is covered. I fear too much predjudice would make some people not want to pray for him. Nuff said. Let us not bash the Cardinals either as we pray.
Christ loves them all and the Holy Spirit will move hearts to make right decisions with prayers of love for each Cardinal whom we choose.
I am asking St. Jerome to pray with me. He knows all about being on the wrong side of a church issue and doing penance for years.

Re: Adopt a Cardinal
Count me in as well. I will take what God has put on my plate.
Oh, I haven't eaten breakfast yet !!
Seriously- I will pray for whomever you assign to me. I am not familiar with many of the cardinals, so I wouldn't know who to pick.
Thanks Melissa.

Re: Adopt a Cardinal
I'll throw my hat in the ring.
Also as an Eastern Catholic I've picked my Cardinal:
Name: H.E. Lubomyr Card. HUSAR
Position: Major Archbishop of Lviv of the Ukrainians
Age: 72 (Born Sunday, February 26, 1933)
From Ukraine
Cardinal since: Wednesday, February 21, 2001
Title: Cardinal Priest of Santa Sofia a Via Boccea
A picture of Cardinal Husar with our Late & Great Pope John Paul II
David (ByzCath),
If you had Cardinal Husar on your mind to pray for him...Let's BOTH pray for him, since he is a candidate in the Conclave. May not happen, but nevertheless, he can sure need the prayers. Ok?
