Let me spell it out for you: Think of this fantasy--you, me, Pax, Ut, FH, and the rest of the guys watching a boxing match on TV--as something like a parable. It's a fictional story, sure. But it has a real truth behind it.

The truth behind it is this:

I used to be like Evangelical Ed.

I'm thinking of becoming like Catholic Carl.

And what really gets me pumped, Joe, is this:

It all comes down to one thing--a conspiracy theory.

Protestants claim it's an historical fact that demonic powers deceived the Catholic Church into becoming apostate. Catholics say it's an unfounded fictional tale that Protestants dreamed up.

This virtual boxing match, Joe, is about that. It's a metaphor for the battle that has been waging within me--between who i used to be and who i struggle to become. It all comes down to this one, last, fight. If Ed wins, i'm back to being an Evangelical. If Carl wins, i'm back to being a Catholic, which i have not been for a very long time.

So i'm done asking questions. I'm done fighting it out with Catholics and Protestants. I'll let Ed and Carl do the fighting for me. And the winner takes all.

I thought you were going nuts.

Good to see you are still among us earthlings.

Let the battle begin. Pass me the Killkenney.

Ut

P.S. Whoever wins the fight, this at least is true. You've done your homework. Although if you are serious about the conspiracy theory question, I think you'll find that you have to get deeper into historical questions instead of strictly logical ones.

If the demonic powers deceived the Catholic Church into becoming apostate, then you might as well give up. If Jesus can't do what he promised then he can't save you or me. If the CC failed, Jesus failed - period. Soc, did Jesus fail?

Good luck Carl...

Good luck fighting it out Soc. At least you admitted that the Catholic church was built by Jesus Christ. If you can just convince your alter ego, Ed, then you are home sweet home.

Soc, why the attraction to Socrates, who is an enigmatic figure known only through the classical accounts of his students, who are unknown?
