Default Open Communion by Pope Benedict XVI?

I have read different news sources that have stated that then Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, gave communion to two well known Protestant Clergy, Brother Roger Shutz of the non-Denominational Taize Community and a Lutheran Pastor and Theologian who is well known by the Pope at the Funeral Mass for John Paul II. I have also seen this posted on different discussion forums. I have also seen some Catholics say that Brother Roger converted to the Catholic Faith, but my limited research has shown this to be rather vague, On one forum some people there emailed Taize about this and Taize responded rather vaguely and did not confirm that Brother Roger converted to Catholicism. Not only this but the Lutheran Pastor/Theologian confirmed that he was still Lutheran and is well known by Benedict XVI. This has me wondering. Can anyone confirm whether or not this actually happened the way it has been reported. In Christ, jurist12.
