OK, so merging families or cutting the apron strings is not always easy as we can see by many of our own situations. This thread is here for those needing advice for difficult in-laws.

This is in response to sixstringpoetic's post on the wall:
Wow! Your father-in-law is a piece of work. My grandparents-in-law are Baptist and believe Catholics are going to Hell and stuff. They have sent us books, dvds, letters, and we write them back and we have had good discussions. The most important thing that we have done is show them how much we truly love Jesus Christ. That is what we have in common and truly that is what they really care about. The more you are able to show this commonality, the less reservations he will have about having you as a part of the family. Step 2- Read Karl Keating's book Catholicism and Fundamentalism while you are showing your love of Christ, you want to be prepared for any objections he may pose to you about Catholicism. The more you take your faith seriously, the more he is going to take you seriously. Many prayers for your family and Congratulations on your marriage!

This is a great thread. I have been posting questions on how to deal with in laws. I even have been randomly messaging people since I honestly do not know how to go about this whole thing.
