Default Best entrance hymn for Holy Thursday

I'm curious to know what everyone thoughts are on the most appropriate entrance hymn for the Mass of the Lord's Supper.

Ideally, it should be the antiphon for the day:

Quote:
We should glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our life and our resurrection; through him we are saved and made free.
There are a couple of settings to this antiphon.

The next ones on the list would be:

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence (omitting the last verse)
At that First Eucharist
Gift of Finest Wheat
Shepherd of Souls

The entrance processional should be of a vertical nature and should speak to the very mystery that is about to unfold before us that evening. It is the beginning of the Church's most sacred time of the year, the Paschal Triduum. Songs like "Table of Plenty" and "Come to the Feast" are more about us and really have watered our Faith down.

I don't know about most appropriate, but we are singing The King of Love My Shepherd Is.

The King of love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never,
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow
My ransomed soul He leadeth,
And where the verdant pastures grow,
With food celestial feedeth.

Perverse and foolish oft I strayed,
But yet in love He sought me,
And on His shoulder gently laid,
And home, rejoicing, brought me.

In death’s dark vale I fear no ill
With Thee, dear Lord, beside me;
Thy rod and staff my comfort still,
Thy cross before to guide me.

Thou spread’st a table in my sight;
Thy unction grace bestoweth;
And O what transport of delight
From Thy pure chalice floweth!

And so through all the length of days
Thy goodness faileth never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing Thy praise
Within Thy house forever.

That is more along the lines of Good Friday, rather than Holy Thursday. Remember, it is the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper that we mark tomorrow.

We are singing Dan Schutte's Glory in the Cross which I think is the closet to the entrance antiphon for the Mass of the Lord's Supper.

That's what we'll be using. But in Latin.

Dan Schutte's "Glory in the Cross" has been used in my parish as the processional on Holy Thursday for many years.

Holy Thursday text:

Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ, our salvation
and our hope. Let us bow in homage to the
Lord of Life, who was broken to make us whole. There is
no greater love, as blessed as this: to lay down one's
life for a friend. Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ and the
triumph of God's great love.

Let us make our journey to the cross of Christ, who surrendered
glory and grace to become a servant of the
great and small, that all people may know God's face. Though his
birth was divine, he knelt as a slave, to wash common
dust from our feet. Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ and the
triumph of God's great love.

Let us tell the story of the cross of Christ as we
share in this heavenly feast. We become one body in the
blood of Christ, from the great to the very least. When we
eat of this bread, and drink of this cup, we honor the
death of the Lord. Let us ever glory in the cross of Christ and the
triumph of God's great love.

Let us stand together at the cross of Christ where we
see God's boundless love. We are saints and sinners who are
joined by faith here on earth and heav'n above. Neither
woman nor man, not servant of free, but on in the
eyes of the Lord. Let us every glory in the cross of Christ and the
triumph of God's great love.

I think it's fitting because it tells the story of Holy Thursday. Another could be "Take Up Your Cross", and "Lift High the Cross".

I'm typically not a Dan Schutte fan, and my parish tends to be very creative with several liturgies throughout the year which is very frustrating, but "Glory in the Cross" is one of my favorite songs during the Triduum. In all the years our parish has sung it, I can't get through the first two lines without choking up. We'll be going to another parish this year for the Triduum and the one thing I'm going to miss is this song. It's really done beautifully in our parish.

Most parishes I have experience with use "At That First Eucharist." Not bad, really. I would like to use "Life High the Cross" since it focuses on the Cross like the introit does.
